Go a little deeper. You are basing your whole conclusion on birth years. From your list at least one of their '97s has been playing with the national team, as well as on a club team that has been national champions two years in a row. Birth year does not tell the whole story.

Same smug arrogance that is so off-putting about the Timbers. Suggestion: get back to everybody when something is actually accomplished instead of announced, or better said, pronounced.

PS The guy who seems to be complaining the loudest says his kid is on the team. Maybe he's just making that up.

The whole "Your kid didn't make the team so your mad" response is so ODP. Why would I be complaining about this weekend if my son didn't make it, I would be laughing.

What I saw was our kids getting their %#@ handed to them because they were not prepared and were out coached! The only people laughing were the scounts.

What a joke. The player are giving up club, good club teams, and the experience to play for their high school.

The results were predictable. Two draws in LA v younger kids is not embarassing. Too bad the older group didn't show better. I am interested in hearing from the parents of the kids who traveled and didn't play or who didn't travel. Is it worth it? Are there regrets? Or, are the kids involved happy with their decision even though they may only get the minimum 25% of the time required?

My kid was a 'bubble' kid who was left off the roster. At this point I think I'm glad, and I think he is although I'm not sure he would admit if he wasn't. For those involved, good luck and I hope you are happy - really. No bitterness here; just relief. Good luck the rest of the year.
