Technically they picked up 3 but one was doing State Cup with them already.
Let me guess, TA is going to carry more than 18 on the roster. Have fun with that.

I think 18 is too many personally. It's always been a better experience for our family when they keep about 15.

bigger, faster, stronger is only good if they got skills

This will always happen with high end teams. It's called accumulating talent.

No worries, the skills are definitely there.

It happens with low end teams, medium teams, and high end teams. Unfortunately, it usually leads to 3 or 4 kids that don't play much more than scrub minutes. I've seen some pretty unhappy and bitter parents in these cases. It can be disruptive.

Keeping it at 18? So then he gave his standard "we have 2 A teams" sales speech?

We have had a different experience. On the teams where there has been a full roster, it is at our current club where all 18 deserve to be there and the bench is very deep. There are very few games that end up with a few players with little playing time, but the majority of the time, the coaches do a great job of rotating everyone in. You can only do this when the bench is deep and there is talent all through the roster. The most frustrating times has been when not many girls showed up to tryouts and so the team of 14 or 15, really was about 8 deep and the team was always short. It depends on the situation what the roster number should be.

18 is pretty standard for U14. My daughter is not THUSC and her current team has 18.

When my dd was 13 it was usually 15-16. Now that she is almost done we would welcome 18 as there are often injuries and other commitments.
