    Remember when?

Remember when most of us registered came to this site because Oregon Live was becoming exactly what this site has become. It was great having conversations that actually were informative, but of course we all new that the muck rakers would realize that there was no one left to harass and eventually they would come over here. Maybe us registered should move back to Oregon Live, there's nothing going on over there. But then once the we do that then the bad mouthers will think ( if thats possible) I better go to Oregon Live as no one is listening to me over here. So guess Ill just sit back and read the ridiculing posts, and have a few laughs as I have over the last year or two. And yes I do have kids, one left in youth soccer.

One of the downsides to registering is that people will rip into your kid, your character and everything about you. I prefer blogging with others that I can frame up with context. I rarely bother anymore. Nice to see all the registered folks check in.

I the original post above you asked why most were unregistered. We gave you an honest assessment of why. No one was getting 'all pissy' as you say. Just facts about how the site deteriorated once all the negative unregistered posters started in.

the reason i joined this site is actually to have GOOD conversations about soccer and to hear what other parents are going thru with their kids, teams, clubs, etc... so when someone talks negatively about something i want it to be helpful criticism not just some guy who has nothing else to do in life but blog...

is there another site that compares to this one? or better?

I didn't like my kids being brought into conversations either, that is why I rarely post anymore. Every once in awhile I will check in and see what is being said, usually it is not worth the trouble to comment. When people do register, then you can actually have a frame of reference of which poster is posting, and it tends to make for a better discussion. I hope people don't know who I am, however, because I know it could be figured out if someone really wanted to, It does make me think carefully about what I write. I think more people would benefit from thinking about the impact of what they say, before they write it on a board. There are real people behind the keyboard.

If you post with a name you tend to be an attention-seeker. It may not have been like that several years ago but if you do now you are more likely egotistical and like the attention to be on you. I know when I post it is for not drawing attention to any of my attachments, which could be from team to club and anything in between. I know of teams/clubs that discourage discussing on these sites. I know there are some clubs/teams that could care less if parents talk on here and they tend to be talked about the most.

I disagree with the first part of your post. When I first registered here there were only about 5 of us (or less) and of varying age groups (U12 up to U15 maybe). There was no attention-seeking, it was all facts, opinions and interpretation of rules. Only when the unregistered crowd came on and started hating every team/club/coach did it go downhill. A few of us stuck around and tried to defend ourselves and each other. Some just dropped off and went elsewhere. Some of us are still around but just post very infrequently and we have to watch every word so as not to ruffle any feathers. Because if you happen to say something positive about a club or (gasp) your own team/coach/club, oh the haters come out in droves like flesh eating zombies! Ridiculous.
And as so far as the clubs attitude toward this time-suck, you are correct. Some discourage and some couldn't care less. And I don't think there is a correlation between the clubs being talked about on here and whether or not the club cares. If parents want to post, they will, regardless.

Well, if your kid didn't suck so badly on the field, you would have nothing to worry about.

                          Heh.

This is exactly the kind of crap I'm talking about. No one who was registered and known would ever post this BS.

There is an area for Oregon there. Everyone has an id.

Also, check your private mail for info on some tournaments.
