Just on stats, ET has 31 goals for this season, WT has 33 and WSA has 36. They all have goal differentials of 20+. Looks like all 3 top teams have some level of offensive skill that is serving them well. Sure they will continue to evolve their playing styles as they mature and get more coaching/experience.

Also interesting to note ET and WSA haven't yet played each other this fall. Will be a good game when they do play their one scheduled contest on Sunday.

I personally believe the Timbers backing made a big difference, particularly for Boys, and particularly at the younger ages. I think for girls, it barely matters. And for older teams, families are inclined to stick around. But for young boys trying to decide what club to go with, why not start with a Timbers Alliance club? I think that's what is going on.

Originally posted by Unregistered View PostGood point regarding the goals. An interesting stat is that WT has scored 80% of its goals in the first six games. This is more even for ET and WSA where these teams scored about half of the goals in the first part of the season. But WT has scored 28 goals in first six games and only 7 in the last five games. And it's not the teams they played since the first six games included games against ET and WSA. I wonder if it's different offense playing recently at WT or the defense from the other teams got better.

With all due respect, your post has an error. Most clubs, including ESU, FC, LO, WT (and the list goes on) have teams of coaches assigned to each group trying out. That is why attendees wear tryout numbers. Yes, the team coach will know some players, but overall scores are tallied up and conversations had before phone calls, emails, or web postings are done. I know because I have worked quite a few tryouts and participated in the post-tryouts player choice decisions.
