    Boys Soccer

I have been reading a lot of the threads on this site and see very little information or threads on boys soccer. They may have the odd comment with in one of the threads but I would guess its 90% to 10% in favour of the boys.

Im involved and have been since I arrived here from England in boys soccer in the area and watch just as many boys play as girls why do we not get to here about the boys?

We have just had the Timbers announce their alliance with three Premier Level Clubs in the area and I would suggest this is a very big thing for the boys involved at these three clubs plus any of the teams playing these clubs as Im sure there will be more scouting now being undertaken in the area.

With all of this going on is soccer for boys still that far behind other sporting activities in the US?

In US youth soccer girls participation dwarfs boys. Plus Girls parents are just plain crazy and come on here to rant. Yes I'm a crazy Girl parent.

I wouldn't use this forum to gauge the interest level between boys and girls soccer. All this forum really tells you is that all the crazy parents in soccer are on the girls side. Why is that? Your guess is as good as mine.

My personal theory is the crazy fanatical boy parents put their boys in football, baseball and basketball; the ones that 'let' their boys play soccer are more the type to let their kid do their thing and are not living through their kid (huge generalization, I know).

Boy parents are here too. I have both. Just not as much talk and "predictions."

Hyper parents of girls do not have other contact sports to help diffuse their aggression. Soccer is it.

Blend in the fact that mommies what to live through their baby girls in a tough world, and you have more of them posting on this board about their girls's teams than about boys' teams.

There are a lot of boy's parents on this board. The closest I can tell, we just don't have the need to trash talk like the girls parents. I don't know if because this is an anonymous forum the girls parents feel safer putting it out there, or something else, but as the poster above said don't let it fool you about the interest level.

I was the original post and thanks for the replies. I have two boys play prem soccer in sw wash at diff clubs.

as I said In English and did play at the highest level in England and both my boys have taken to the sport so Im very happy for that as I can coach and help them develop into hopefully good players with the right habits and as I have read on here not purely out there to win at there age but to learn the game and understand the team and not the individual. I have had coaches come to be about both of my boys and told me yes we can build a team around them!!!! they are 10 and 12 they are still learning they have no right to have a team built around them even as 16 18 or 20 yr olds you dont build a team around anyone so that was nipped in the bud very quickly with a couple of coaches.

As for the comment one of you made about living vicariously I guess I do a little as Football(soccer) is like a religion back home so to see my boys do well give me a glow inside I just keep it to myself you that stiff upper lip and all that.

                  Again thanks for the replies

Hummm. I know the Vantucky soccer area pretty well and the only son-of-a-Brit that might fit your description that I can think of is a good lad for sure but would not be the center of the universe for the top tier team here. Maybe you were talking to a Salmon Creek coach? Ha ha

You could be right and two more club coaches too lol. Thats why I said no not into all the hype that happens here. For me its about hard work and education, but what I really hate is the whole club this about you ability to pay not play. Until they sort that out you will have lots of boys playing because their folks and pay not because they are good.
Go watch Le Amistad and see some of their players from U0 to U17 they pay $70 or so a season and would play most of the so called prem teams off the pitch and did so in the u15 Christmas at Salmon Creek indoor.

Again as the previous post would say "he not the center of the universe!!!!" Isnt that what I said? Why do people have to get nasty. I can grantee you now that whats playing now at U12 is not a finished product and if you think it is then you have not idea about this wonderful game.

Im not going to get into the my kid is better than yours rubbish but you guys and girls have to step back and let kids develop as most of the parents on here who are giving there opinion have not idea of how the game will be played at and level above what they are playing now, and have no idea of how to move of the ball and third man running or drop and support. You guys at looking for your U12 to U14 players to be stars they are not where near being the finished article they havent finished growing yet and that alone could play big into where they end up position and club.

I dont want to make this a crap throwing contest so I will hold my tongue on many things but this shows me why you guys just dont get it.

Easy there, fellah. Good thing it's the weekend so we can all sit back and relax a bit. When I said "center of the university", it was just a bit of hyperbole that fed off your line about "we can build a team around him". Some coaches talk rubbish like that mainly to feed a parent's ego. I know you didn't buy it (well, unless the team was weak, in which case it could be true)

As for the rest of what you wrote, I dont know what you were referring to. If it's the other threads on this forum, you're right that it's mostly crap. The few that are about Vantucky, however, are the more civil ones.

Got to rush...it's nearly time for tea!

In any case, I can't wait to see your kids (if im guessing right) make it to a better team.

Didnt Mean To Pee Anyone Off

Yes my oldest will be moving teams this summer his development isn't going as I had hoped and he is being used extensively even though he is playing two yrs up. As we had said before its more about the result than the kid being taught. He will be doing try outs at his age group in may so hopefully I can find a coach i can feel comfy with who will look for development and not results

What teams will you (er, I mean, your sons) be investigating?
