I don't recall a red card being given out during the game?

      My prediction for the future;

WSM and PCU will break into the top tier of this age. They will challenge and eventually take over the roles ESUFC & EMFC currently occupy, then will overtake FC Portland and give THUSC and OSSA a workout. Will they challenge them by U18? That I do not know but I would say it happens next year if they both continue on the road they are on. Just a guess.

Any thoughts one way or the other?
You know, I might agree with PCU. They gave us a run last weekend for sure and then backed it up with a 1-1 tie against FC Portland. They have surely come out of their shell. Don't know what it was, new coach? New Uniforms, new philosophy, new attitude? I don't know but it certainly was not the same team we played in the past.

LOL. Have you watched them play? They have 2-3 really good players this year. The rest are medicore to really bad.

It was rare to see on the ground to feet passes, only a few players seemed to understand the concept. They just boot and kick and with no consistancy or reason. The poor forwards just have to hope they can outrun the defenders and get to the ball in time to get a shot off.

Ball settling or handling skills? Almost none existant except for a few players (trained at other clubs). The only way that team will be able to compete with the top 3 teams (FC, THUSC & OSSA) is if they get 75% new players who have trained at those top 3 clubs and drop those who seem to have been there forever but never gotten any better.

Not a hater just a realist.

I will agree 100% with you assessment if it were directed specifically at the WSM squad. Historically they play the 'boot-n-run' to death.
But I did see the THUSC vs PCU game and I also talked with FC parents (family friends) yesterday and they said they struggled with PCU.

So, maybe the original poster is just being overzealous in their predictions. If you singled out PCU, well, maybe.

OK, so with all the blah blah blah about the lower tier teams and so on aside, who is going to win the the OPL at at the U16G age bracket?

It looks like OSSA may be #1 in their bracket baring anything weird in the last 2 games, right? THUSC secured #1 & FC Portland #2 according to the website.

What do you all think? Does EMFC have a chance? Will it be OSSA vs THUSC like it is in every U16G bracket? What about ESUFC? Do they have an outside chance?

Based on having watched all of these teams play the over the past two weeks and before, OSSA looks to be the team to beat. THUSC is strong as well. These two teams will be in the final again. I think it will be a good game but OSSA will prevail. It will be fun to watch.

FC does have some talent but lack enough good players to compete with the best.

Eugene also has a few good players but again lack enough to win it all.

OSSA is the top team and should win State Cup. That being said things can happen and they may not but that does not take away that they are the best team at this age group. They have done the best against all the teams compared to what any other team have done.

THUSC is a distant second, although they have been equal or better than LO in previous years they lack an overall team in comparison to OSSA. That being said they have a small chance of winning, it would take a lot of pieces to fall in their direction for that to happen.

FC and Eugene are not much of a threat and shouldn't even be in the same breath as THUSC let alone OSSA.

Can you back these statements up with any facts because I, and I'm sure others, feel that THUSC has a very good shot at winning this age bracket. The last time these two teams met it was a 0-0 draw. How can you say they are a 'distant second'?

                    Agree.
It will be THUSC/OSSA again. Yawn.

My guess is that it was just someone trying to stir the pot. OSSA and THUSC have an equal chance to take it all. I think everyone feels that way. My daughter plays at OSSA and I can tell you that our team feels that way.

Totally agree. Our girls love to play OSSA. Great matches over the years, many play ODP together and are friends. An all around good time for players and fans alike.

On a totally unrelated topic, I went to change my password after some computer work caused me to be logged out and when I reset it, it resorted back to the original registered SodiumFan moniker instead of SodiumFan[2]. It says my last login was 02-25-2009! Wild.

I agree with this statement. Both THUSC and OSSA are amazing teams full of talented players. As we all know, every game in soccer is so different. Just depends on how well the team comes together on the day of the match.

THUSC v OSSA definitely the match of the gender and age group. Having said that, it would be very dangerous to write off even an ESUFC or EMFC and especially an FC. We won't go in cocky.

Agreed. And let's not forget the battle PCU gave us last weekend and apparently FC Portland as well. I liked reading the earlier posts about them being a contender in the future. This age bracket needs a rising star to make the other teams work harder. In my opinion, the more the merrier! I wish OR Rush's U16 team would join OPL, I remember some great battles between them and all the teams mentioned thus far.
