OPL you are hurting competitive soccer outside the metro area and even clubs inside the region are not benefiting and or growing thanks to your stellar leadership and transparency!
I have lived through years of oysa and now opl and I have yet to see a single downside to leaving oysa. Opl isn't perfect but so far they are not doing anything worse than what oysa did and many things better.

I don't care what impact it has had on rural oregon just like you don't care about issues in my community. I no longer have to drive to roseburg or bend to play teams that are no better than the ones 15 minutes away.

I do want to thank all you oysa honks for the entertainment over the last couple months and look forward to next spring when you start up again. Keep tilting those windmills guys!

So shortsighted and ignorant. You really need to educate yourself.

+1 It was ludicrous driving all over Oregon and in some cases, play a glorified rec. team.

Just like it sucks to drive across Portland and play a glorified rec team who is only in a top league because their DOC is one of the top eight.

Prove this statement, what age group has this happened in?

Sorry, did that one cut a little too close to the bone?

Name the age group. Not one of the Great 8 has teams that are good across the board.

If you need proof, you ought to look around you.

So let's hear the specifics, or is this just another of those broad generalizations masking the OPL party line?

Rouge valley teams. All were glorified rec teams, none ever competed in the top tier. On the girls side the only great team I can remember was the Oregon Rush U18G team. They were very good but outside of them I don't remember any girls team from outside PDX ever winning oysa state cup.

I have to say that we have gone to Bend and Rogue Valley for both our boy and girl's teams. I would say for our groups that they were competitive and we don't mind going once or twice a year. If everyone has to win state cup to play OPL who is there going to be to play? You don't have to win all the time to be competiteve.

I guess it seems like your measure maybe suspect. If you are saying any team that hasn't won OYSA state cup is glorified rec. By those standards the only U15B team that is not glorified rec
is CFC', with maybe a half point for Eastside with their one OPL victory. The inconsistency that puzzles me is how OPL comments so strong on how all non-Portland teams are rec, but then brag about how the OPL state cup is larger than OYSA's and more competitive even though the bulk of these teams are the glorified rec teams OPL disdains so much.
