    OYSA Minutes

Anyone read the March minutes on OYSA's website? Interesting.....

Yes, doesnt exactly reflect well on GW does it, although I would hardly consider OYSA's minutes free from bias.

Go to their website, oregonyouthsoccer.org, then "About Us", and finally "What is OYSA". They like to hide them along with history of past events. There shouldn't be any minutes from the March meeting since a quorum was not present. Merely details to the boneheads at OYSA. Their minutes are pretty useless anyway, they never have gotten a clue how minutes are actually taken and proper procedure followed. Oh well, it's just OYSA. Note the reference to OPC being the "competition", which is, of course, how they view anybody or any organization threatening their fiefdom. Any guesses why OPC does want to rejoin OYSA?

You sure they don't mean "US Club Soccer" when they say "competition"?

You could well be right, I didn't take it that way. Thanks.

This is kind of interesting. From this it sounds as if the Timbers are not affilliated with ODP?

"Portland Timbers/ODP – I signed an agreement with the Timbers on February 24th. I received unofficial
information on March 1st that the Timbers were entering into an agreement with US Club Soccer in which they
would receive a financial incentive to register US Club Soccer members in Oregon. Since I had not yet
received an executed copy of the agreement from the Timbers, I faxed them a notice that I rescinded my
approval of the agreement. I followed this up with a hand delivered letter March 6th making the same
assertion. I feel it is highly inappropriate to partner with an organization that is actively working to register
              soccer players with our competition."

I suspect this is for the Girls ODP only. On February 24th, on 750 The Game, Mike Smith announced that he had just signed an agreement with OYSA to take over the girls ODP program starting in the fall of 2012. Now it sounds like that marriage has been annulled...

My DD was at the ODP try-out in Eugene 2 weeks ago. An announcement was made at the meeting that Timbers were taking over the girls side in August.

Check on the OPL website, under contacts it lists the office address and various methods of contacting them without resorting to driving to the Jean road office. Please e-mail or phone, because the minutes do reside there. Pretty simple.

You are indeed correct, I did not read it carefully, but skimmed over it. My mistake.

So let me be sure I understand this, the timbers will be paid by US club to register their players with US Club? So who benefits from this payment? Is it just lining GW's pockets?

It would be interesting to know who was the driver of the motion that all OPL clubs should play OPL cup. It certainly seems like this becomes a real conflict of interest for mister GW.

Hand one: The timbers academy is benefitted by statewide exposure and alignment with ODP. Hand two: the timbers receive cash benefit from registering with US Club. Hand three: several Eastside teams could have advanced to regionals, and had a better experience than what they will likely have with US Club. Hand four: GW is paid by the timbers, and Eastside/OPL.

Is it really so simple that this decision had nothing to do with ideology, but was merely someone puting money in their pocket?

It is too bad that one mans, or a few men's greed has conspired to screw up Oregon soccer for another year.
