It would be interesting to know who was the driver of the motion that all OPL clubs should play OPL cup. It certainly seems like this becomes a real conflict of interest for mister GW.

Hand one: The timbers academy is benefitted by statewide exposure and alignment with ODP. Hand two: the timbers receive cash benefit from registering with US Club. Hand three: several Eastside teams could have advanced to regionals, and had a better experience than what they will likely have with US Club. Hand four: GW is paid by the timbers, and Eastside/OPL.

Is it really so simple that this decision had nothing to do with ideology, but was merely someone puting money in their pocket?

It is too bad that one mans, or a few men's greed has conspired to screw up Oregon soccer for another year.

All that wasted OPC/OPL bashing and name calling. To answer your question, yes it was that simple. Not entirely, but close. The difficulty of dealing with OYSA was another factor.

They handed the Timbers the ODP program. They didnt have to start their own, they didnt have to hire and train a staff, they didnt have to solicit participation. Free, instant business (income).

They handed all of competitive soccer to the OPL.

They reduced their fees to the clubs below that in which they pay now ?

Soccer in this state is sooo messed up with greed and vindictiveness.

For OYSA to stick with the same board and management that has seen it devastated and blame everybody but themselves, and constantly accuse others of greed and ill will is telling. Yes, it is difficult. A competent board would have cleaned house 2 years ago.

Please, must we relive the incompetent performances of ODP staff. As a college coach told my daughter, one of the ODP staff approached him and mentioned what a great GK she was. Nice complement, but she never has played in the GK position. You just can't make this stuff up!

Management, not staff. It was the leadership that caused the problem and they're the ones who are left and the situation does not seem to be getting any better.

Seems like the OYSA's Directors remarks in the OYSA March minutes contradict what you were told at ODP. So that leaves us all puzzled to what the truth is?

I believe this is all being misinterpreted. The interregional tournament was after this OYSA telephone conference. The minutes were posted March 16th. I doubt this announcement would have been made in front of some 300+ people if things had changed 10 days prior.

Why call them? Can't information be available to everyone? They both have been far less than truthful in the past, (my personal experience), why are they going to be suddenly better at their jobs than before? Isn't it their job(s) to make information freely available? There is a hidden agenda here, just like it has been for a very long time.
