Many years ago a prominent figure in east county once told that (sorry) women coaches never last. The young ones do it for a year or two and then marry and have kids and aren't reliable for long term. Basically I keep them in the lower ages or as asst's. From what I have seen this is true, not a knock against them but has some merrit. Also believe that in older age groups men make the better coaches for both sides, look at college and higher. The Olympic team is a different monster and am not counting them in my group.

Seriously? Wouldn't it be wiser (not to mention legal) to judge each individual individually? If that person sticks around, proves him/herself and works his/her way up, then s/he moves up in the ranks. Broad statements like your make you sound VERY VERY ignorant.

That broad brush statement about marrying and having kids didn't apply to our old coach who was openly gay. She's been coaching for years and will probably continue to do so. And she is a terrific coach.
