I've found that drinking beer works during both seasons. I make my kids run suicides based upon the number of beers I drank the day before. During the season, one per beer. In the off season, 2 per beer. Hey, they're fit and I'm happy.

This spring, our club collaborated with a local sport therapy center and offered Strength and Agility training at substantially reduced rate. Its just once a week for an hour, but my kid is bushed after every work out there.

          Summer Conditioning Programs

Trinity Sports has some awesome summer and winter training prorams that are run out of Horizon Christian in Tualatin. Not expensive and they kick the kids butts. My kids have attended for a couple years, and no, I am not part of Trinity.

Contact Cory Hand, very easy to work with.

All the best to keep the kids focused over the summer.

            Cory is a great guy.

PS - I was kidding about the beer thing. It sounded good however.

So when is this off time? I haven't seen any in a few years (well maybe 2-3 weeks at a time during certain times of the year)

My kids used to train at Velocity.

What place are you referring to above? Thanks.

My kid loves Sean T's Insanity and P90x. She is HS age though so I am not sure if it is appropriate for the younger age groups. In any case, she is as fit as it gets and on top of her game. She also runs track so she practices with the track team.

My kids do CrossFit Teens at our local CrossFit. It's been great for them and they enjoy it.

Its coordinated thru Therapy Associates in Lake Grove. The workouts are performed at MOTA Gym, just behind REI near bridgeport mall. They call it F.I.T.T., cant remember now what the acronym stands for.

                        Off season training

Therapeutic Associates Hillsboro Physical Therapy offers Sportmetrics certified training. This program (www.sportsmetrics.com) is the only documented evidence based program to reduce ACL injury and enhance performance. They typically have a soccer specific program for 6 weeks in the summer at Liberty High School.

Off season?! WTH is that? It's competitive soccer...... My dd has been playing for two years and I haven't seen an off season yet.

I'm going to look into the girls running suicides for the number of beers I drink........ Hell'uva idea!

Every once in awhile in order to improve your own drinking capacity you could do it the other way around. The girls run suicides and you have to guzzle a beer. Then you have to walk to the cooler to get another. See who gives first.

Honestly, if you are on a "premier" club and you have an "off" season, I would look for a new club. There is no such thing as an off season in premier soccer. Also, if you have to look for supplemental fitness training outside of your club, then you definitely need to look for a new club. The best premier clubs in this town have fitness programs for their players, not that they need it. The teams that are winning in this town tend to always be the fastest most conditioned. Speed of play and fitness are so fundemental to the game, that I cannot imagine any club or coach that doesn't promote this during every practice. If your child is currently playing for a club or team where this isn't happening then switch clubs immediately and do not spend nother penny of your hard earned money there. My kids club offers this and then some, but I will not tell you what club they play for, because I don't want this post to sound self promoting. I sincerely hope that you would take my advice if you want the best for your child.
