thats right. beat your chest, scream and yell as loud as you can so that everyone knows youve been wronged. it's really getting you and your child a long way and making you feel a lot better about it.

stay right where your at. dont move. your happiest right now.

Actually, I have been amazed as an OPL participant that OPL seems to have institutionalized the two ref approach. As I think back through the last year, the games that stand out were ones where we have three refs. I have witnessed this at multiple age groups.

Perhaps the author above is from one of the chosen teams, who's schedules work smoother, and who always seem to have sunny days.

        Combine the cups, hmm...

This is such a great idea. Imagine you could have all the teams playing. They would play for the opportunity to go to USYS Regionals. For those who don't win, they would still have the option of going to US CLub regionals. It would raise the prestige of the cup, perhaps helping winners qualify for Surf/Dallas/Nomads.

        This would be awesome...

but, really, that is all just describing OYSA State Cup. The only thing preventing us from being there is the OPC holding their teams out to try to legitimize their second rate cup.

Everything above is ours if we just shift teams.

        That really would be awesome.

We had one ref a couple weeks ago when we played up in Vancouver for an OPL game. It basically changes the game because there is no way that one ref can call offsides.

Now wasn't the major motivation to exit OYSA Scheduling & Officiating?

"Meet the new boss same as the old boss!"

The bottom line is that a unified organization would be better for players and parents and continuing to pretend that separate organizations are better is just foolishness.

OYSA offer to turn over competitive soccer should be taken seriously and not dismissed by living in the past especially when OPL is falling into the same pattern.

We got an email from the OPL last week that said they would be short on refs for a couple of weekends...our manager forwarded it to us. I guess there were more games than usual for this time of year, and a bunch of their refs went to some sort of training in Seattle on one of the weekends. Hard to complain if we miss refs because they are getting extra training! :) we are probably going to sign our kids up to ref this summer. Hoping they can learn more about the game that way, too!

It's called Scheduling for a reason!

So I guess all of the OPl supports are going to cut AH a mile of rope because she couldn't possibly have known that there was an officials training seminar that weekend and worked around it? GMFB.

Travel was the parents biggest complaint

Of all the complaints from parents about OYSA pre OPL it was the traveling. Yes the scheduling and the ref's were a problem but if you asked parents what their number one bitch was it was the drives South & East. Funny how quickly the leaders of the OPC have forgotten about that!

It's spring league!!!! Who cares if we only have 1-2 refs.. Besides, The ref issue is not unique to OPL or OYSA. It is the responsibility of the asignor and OYSA and OPL use the exact same assignor.

It's also not unique to just soccer. My daughter had a basketball tournament a few weeks ago and we only had 1 ref for a game. Happened to my son in football as well.

This is true. Travel was an issue for U14 and below. I think Oregon Rush and Rogue Valley Soccer club travel up here more then there fair share. They do this because they have no one to play against in there area. There are occassion where a Portland team will travel down their for a game.

I guess OPL could make those 2 clubs travel up here every weekend.

The point is that we PAY for 3 officials not 1 or 2. OPL keeps saying that they are working to train and develop new officials yet they continue to pay low wages and do not have an effective recruiting program. So in this case they are the SAME as OYSA..with their head in the sand!
