Sorry meant to say 3 "last year". Onyx, Sodium, and Ireland. This year it looks like just Onyx, and Sodium. Anyone know if Ireland is registered? If not, why not? Did they register and not get accepted? Or, did they not register at all? Anyone?

One thing that I wonder is how does the soccer community go about attracting the attention of the "top"? Obviously these forums are not the avenue but when approached by individuals the reaction is not pretty. For us we went from being a valued customer and part of the soccer family to being a problem that needed to go away.

It would seem that parents of female soccer players need to unite to approach the "top" ..not demand or berate but to ask the hard questions and to see if there is a plan. After writing and reading on this forum it also seems that uniting on anything is very difficult for soccer parents. We seem to be an angry bunch. Any suggestions? And, who is the "top"?
Unfortunately there are too many egos up top. And it's not just in Oregon; happens everywhere. I feel with the Timbers aligning with these 3 clubs could help the girls side, but it has to done correctly as current players and parents of the other top clubs will be skeptical. But the Timbers will be banking on the current U14 and U13 teams as their future academy teams. True there is no end game for the Timbers currently, other than providing an ultra-competitive program for the girls so they appear to the community as ambassadors to the game. If the program is affordable, and players realized that all the top players of those age groups (U13 & U14) will tryout, than the possibility of an ECNL team is good and will naturally attract top talent. Remember these two groups are very talented. At U13 Onyx, Sherwood, FC, etc... are very good and just imagine putting together 24-26 players from that group. And at U14, there are at least 4-5 top level teams in Oregon. Players from WSM, Thusc, FC, and ESU coming together would be a team to be reckon with. Will this happen? we'll see I guess. Timbers need to have this vision, and effectively communicate it for it to happen.

        Timbers Academy/ODP

This is a calendar year age cut-off program rather than the end of July OPL one. Tryouts started this week. The Timbers definately have a vision for competitive girls and boys soccer in Oregon. It is no longer pay to play.

Maybe in the future but for this year there are still high fees and now that making the regional team does not require participation at the state level combined with the boys academy program pulling talent out of ODP, I have to wonder if they will lose more of the talent at the older age groups.

Hopefully the younger players will continue and the vision will ultimately result in an affordable program.

How is it no longer pay to play? I'm paying the exact same as years past and nothing great added in. Same old coaches, just fancier uniform (which I still have to pay for)
