Tualatin may have all or almost all club players but they have some lower end B teamers on their squad. Big difference.

Tualatin, however, does have a higher than usual number of club players, A team, this year.

I can guarantee that Jesuit has more A team club players over Sunset, Westview and Southridge.

Do people seriously think a high school coach has time to develop players? Or even a team in, what, a few months? It simply boils down to how many GOOD club players your team has. Regular public schools gamble with this year to year.
Metro HS Coaches have little to nothing in the game with player development prior to kids walking in the door. Some of the HS coaches are involved in Club Soccer, but not most.

One key point most don't make is the team play developed by the players in these HS Program. Just because you get a all star team together does not always lead to winning a State Champ. You can have a number of great individual players, but they can not work as a team very well.

So true. Some people seem to believe that it all comes down to development which simply doesn't occur in HS soccer. A great coach is a plus but give that great coach to Estacada and you still have Estacada... a smaller country school without the likelihood of many if any club players. (no offense to Estacada... just using as a small school example).

On the other side of that, you can have a bunch of really good club players with a bad coach, and your team is out in the first round. There's been a lot of those in past year (Westview boys coach a few years back), so I wouldn't discount having a good club coach as your HS coach. True they may not be developing players, but in my opinion a good coach vs a bad coach is the difference between winning and losing.

On another note, regarding developing players, even club coaches have minimal impact on player development. Again in my opinion good players playing against other good players is what really helps players improve. Coaches have very little to do with this. You can read the background of Pele, Messi, Maradona, etc..and understand that the game itself is the best teacher. That's why soccer in this country is years behind and always will be.

Seriously don't try to tell anyone who is paying attention that the scholarships admission just happened to be given to "athletes"
The point the poster was making is that athletic success is way down on the list of reasons that we as parents choose to pay the money to send our children to Jesuit. The average parent pays $8000 to $10000 per year to send their child to Jesuit. There are many things that many other families choose to do with that money. We choose to spend it on our children for their education. And we don't expect anyone who doesn't make that decision and have a child at Jesuit or CC or Lasalle or Catlin to understand that decision. The people who think we spend that money for athletic success don't know what they don't know.

Wow kind of snoody aren't you. Did you ever stop to think that many of us are spending the $8-10,000 on something like mortgage, food, clothes, etc. Not all of us can afford to be dishing out extra money like that for HS and that does not mean our kids are not getting a good education. My child is in a public school in an IB program and taking some college courses. I believe she is getting just as good of an education.

Snoody? No, snoody would be when I tell you the $10K is a low number and I give $3-$5K more 'cause I can. I also forgot to tell you my kid drives a better car than you but its really avererage when you compare it to the rest of the cars in the JHS parking lot (that line makes you feel a tiny bit better). IB program? Thats entry level at JHS.

LOL! That sounds more like it! Love it when the U of J parents come on here and tell us how much better their childs education is because they pay for it. Sorry to tell you but just because you fork out the money doesn't mean your kid is any smarter.

You may be right, my kid may not be any smarter, but is definitely entitled to more in life because we have more. Better cars, houses (yes plural) and I know more people that will help my child get ahead in life. Deal with it please. I pay for it and will receive it.

You hit the definitive word there; "entitled". You keep your kids feeling entitled and we'll keep our kids earning and learning and when your entitlement runs out, your kid will come to ours looking for a job! Ha Ha Ha!! I guess that's one way to look out for their future! Ha Ha Ha!!

The poster was being sarcastic, dimwits. You do know what that means don't you, and I didn't even go to Jesuit!

I don't think any parent of a Jesuit student would post this rubbish. It's just some malcontent trying to stir the pot.

                              5a games nw conference

Sherwood is the favorite but they will have their test this league on league play. Wilsonville will be a great test to start. Last year league champs.

Then at Liberty on Thursday. Another talented team that beat them last year at Sherwood.

If you had the pleasure of having your child actually coached by a "value added" coach rather than a chess player then you would not feel this way. Playing/practicing against better players helps but someone needs to impart the finer points of the game and add to the players soccer IQ!
