I heard that fc was disbanding and was planning to change the name and nike to addidas sponsorship and show oregon, the "new club" direction and use their resources to make super teams thru marketing the timbers affiliation (coaching, training, camps, exposure etc.)
sounded like they want to monopolize the youth soccer industry in oregon and claim some of that $$$ to me.

FC will never use THPRD fields
THPRD will never let FC on to their fields. WSM/THUSC are the only Classic Clubs with access to fields. ** Don't throw tax payer access around, FC has a very small number of THPRD folks playing for them.
The Timbers training site off 217 is a committed grass field for their use and a THPRD public Turf field. The Timbers have to ask to use the Turf field (don't assume they have unlimited use).
This talk is all hot air until a press release is made. I don't think Nike is very happy with Timbers/adidas in their back yard. It makes for interesting forum talk, but that is about it.
Lets see FC get the money to fix their fields and then maybe this would be more interesting.

I'm sure your analysis is spot on minus the tax payer per field evaluation. How would you know where each player is from?
PS--I'm pretty sure Nike knows that Adidas has their HQ in North PDX so the whole backyard argument is over blown.

FC Portland is not merging with Timbers. Timbers are not interested. FC Portland will more than likely become the first club that will put up a fight against Timbers academy with their own academy. Most other clubs in the area will be feeder programs for Timbers and FC will have their own.

Liberty Troubles
FC entered into a cost sharing arrangement with school district on field . Part of agreement is that FC will bare part of cost of replacing field turf. FC does not have the funds nor does the school district therefore they will lose field unless they come up with funds. That includes repairing sink hole on jv field. FC is scrambling right now and bringing in more bodies will help. Perhaps they need to look at cutting overhead.
