If you want to trash some of the players from tryouts, please don't do it loudly in a public restaurant while wearing your club gear. It's also not appropriate for you to name players by name-first and last-and their perceived shortcomings to other club parents.
Yes, this happened in a local restaurant, by one of the coaches from one of the OPL founding member teams. This coach apparently has not heard of the word discretion. Why would someone name players by first and last name for the whole restaurant to hear? And why would you discuss those things with other team parents? The contempt with which he spoke about certain players made me wonder how he talks to his team when they are on the field. I also had to wonder if the parents listening to the diatribe were thinking, "Does he talk about my kid like this to other parents?"
My child does not play for this club (though did several years ago) and if I was still a parent there, I'd have a little chat with the DOC. Due to circumstances, was not able to go say anything to this coach at the time, but wish I could have.
If you really feel the need to trash teenage players, don't do it by name in a public place.
