My daughter is not from WSM or THUSC.
Rochelle has been open to training and working with my daughter.
Every local coach is going to have some club or high school affiliation, so there is always a potential conflict.
It is okay to attack the system, but I don't think it is right to attack the coach or to a certain extent the club at which the coach is employed.Comment

Just who is it that you do file a complaint with? That is so funny. Everyone on here knows that there is no accountability with any club or any coach. Not only is there no accountability, there isn't really anyone who cares to hear parental concerns or opinions. It comes down to "if you don't like it... then don't do it".

We won't be having this discussion if the club coach in question got involved in the try outs on the boys side. It's more appropriate and nobody can say that the process is biased. In the future if and when a club coach is helping in ODP or ID2 try-outs, they should only be able to evaluate older or younger or opposite gender of the kids they are coaching. Not a THUSC parent, but my daughter was approached by FC, and WS this past season to join their club. We decided to stay Eastside for now. Crazy, but it happens with all clubs. It's a competitve soccer thing, not restricted to one club.Comment

As was my daughter too. But the difference was that the coaches approached us off the field. If coaches are at a training center or ODP or any other all comers event, then it seems inappropriate of them to use that venue to recruit. Now if a kid comes over and practices with the team or goes to a camp sponsored by a Club, then that is different.Originally posted by Unregistered View Post

The fact that this practice is wrong is the reason the NBA has rules preventing it. It is still a lie that she is using her time with these other groups like ODP, US Training center to approach players, total lie. There are two many kids around and people would hear, stop picking on Rochelle (not this poster, the previous posters), she does a great deal for Oregon soccer and doesn't deserve this. When she is coaching at the training center she does not represent her club, she represents the training center. If she refuses to coach boys or a different age group, it suggests that she may have ulterior motives. Again make it easy, avoid the issue all together.Comment

I disagree with the conflict of interest. If she is not actively recruiting, then I don't see harm in a club coach being involved. If she could coach an age group or gender of kids that she doesn't currently coach, then that would probably be better, but if she coaches U14 club and U14 ODP and .... then it's not necessarily a conflict of interest for recruiting purposes. As to her assessments of kids making a team or continuing on in a program, there certainly could be a conflict of interest and I would hope that she would be professional and unbiased in her assessments.
My daughter has not opted to try out for ODP nor has she, nor any of her teammates as far as I can tell, been nominated for training center. I don't know why the latter has occurred since I am sure there are a few players who should be reviewed. In due time I suppose.Comment
