    CFC out of Fall OPL

OPL Tryout Policy – (distributed 2/12/2012 by the Oregon Premier Council)
“TRYOUTS; Well, this will make a lot of the women in your clubs happy. We have set the first day for Fall League team tryouts as Wednesday, May 11...so, NOT on Mother's Day! Any club wishing to participate in the 2011 OPL Fall Season cannot hold tryouts prior to this date; if you do, your teams will not be eligible to participate in our league season.

Big deal. They chose to stay OYSA early on so its no surprise. The OPL boys side will miss out on some good games but the girls side will not be affected. How many age groups did CFC have in State Cup? I saw they won 3 titles. I'd be more excited to have Woodburn in the OPL.

Where did this come from? I haven't seen this before. Was it sent to the OPC clubs?

From an email to all Clubs from the Oregon Premier Council with all the details of State Cup, Tryout Dates, etc.

Plus the dates are on OPL Calendar on their website

          [QUOTE]

Thanks for pointing out that oversight Jim! Is this the headline on your website yet? Make sure you contact the OPL folks ASAP! I'm sure they are very concerned with what little old CFC is up to.

Is this about CFC or OYSA?

So if this is to be distrubuted 2/12/2012, does that mean anything goes with tryouts and OPL this year?

              :D

Looks like a typo - should have been 2/12/2011

Letter from Jim Parent to Salem soccer community

The difference between local "Premier" Clubs?
Only one will be participating in the Oregon Premier League! United Soccer Association!
With the split between the top Portland Soccer Clubs from Oregon Youth Soccer (OYSA) and forming their own "Premier" league, the "Oregon Premier League" (OPL). The OPL has been so successful and recognized as the top Premier league by area Clubs that OYSA will no longer be offering its Premier League and will now only offer Regional Leagues such as the Mid Valley Soccer League for this Region. And the two local Clubs have made their choices too, United SA has announced it will play its "Premier" teams in OPL Premier Leagues and Cascade FC based on past public declarations and holding tryouts based on OYSA dates (starting May 9th) and prior to the first eligible date for OPL on May 11th (see below), we can only anticipate CFC will be playing in the OYSA Regional Leagues, though you would have to confirm their plans with them, the information was not available on their website.

So do you want to play Premier in a "Premier" league? Tryouts for United SA Premier start May 12th.

This letter is completely bogus and Jim knows it is bogus. What would possess him to send a misleading letter like that to hundreds or thousands of people? Desperation? Does he think this will cause 1-2 kids to move to Keizer? Would that be worth it?

What specifically is bogus? If tryouts are held before the specified dates allowable for opl I'm not sure how cfc would then be eligible to play in the opl. I think the email sounds sleazy but not bogus.

OYSA will have a premier division in the Portland Metro league but come on now, how competitive will that be. CFC will be in the Mid Valley league where no premier is offered. There is no current state wide league in OYSA now.

                        http://www.oregonyouthsoccer.org/ass..._2011-2012.pdf

                        Four Regional Leagues:

                        Portland Metro League (w/SW Washington)

                        U10/U11 play 9v9

                        Mid Valley (Keizer’s Competitive Division)

                        South Valley (KidSports Competitive Division)

                        Southern Oregon (SOCL)

All Qualify for Presidents Cup, Oregon State Championships/NCS

What's bogus is that Jim knows darn well that CFC was unaware of that date from OPL. The date has always been the day after State cup finals(usually Mother's Day). CFC was not notified of this date and it's nowhere to be found on the OPL website. Jim also knows that CFC has teams currently playing OPL that are fully intending to play OPL in the fall. So knowing all that he still sent this e-mail out knowing that it wasn't true and attempting to deceive people. Why would he do that? I think sleazy is an understatemnet for this guy. Keep in mind that he is the DOC for Keizer. Can you imagine a DOC in Portland sending this out about another Portland club trying to get people to come to their tryouts.

CFC was aware of the try-out date as it was sent to all clubs who had teams participating in the OPL. CFC had teams in the OPL in the Spring so they received the notification. They chose to have their try-outs early so they could try to lock down their players. Everyone else seemed to be able to follow the rules just fine.

As far as the letter goes it has yet to be verified. I could easily fake a letter and post it on here. Let's not over react.

The thing is all of the Portland DOC's know the guidelines for tryouts. As sleazy as this is, it is just as much CFC's fault for not checking. Everyone else didn't have this problem.
