We may have to wait until later in the summer to see how this all plays out. If they put too many girls on that team, you know there are going to be unhappy players/parents. That could mean other clubs pick them up later in the summer.

This is no longer possible under US Club soccer. A player has to be released by a their current club to be allowed to play on a different team. Once a player is registered with the club, it is final for the year (unless under special circumstances). Decisions must be made in the next week.
Hopefully you didn't wait till this week to start trying to figure out of this is the right team for your daughter or if you a move is necessary.

You have plenty of time to figure this out. No team wants an unhappy player. No club will survive by tying someone up and holding them hostage. Just look at SSC.

What team could that be...

14
I think 14 good field players is about all any squad could try to carry and get away with it. Most of the parents are becoming pretty savvy about being on a good team versus playing on a good team. I could be wrong of course.
It is a very tricky year as a lot of players now want to be on a team that has a chance to win bigger games and tournaments. As much as it has been downplayed at times, I think the NWCL might have had the effect of opening peoples eyes to what it takes to be an upper division player and team. Going to Seattle and getting beat, and sometimes badly, is not something you want to do twice.
So how many upper level U14G players are there in the Portland area? My guess is 2 maybe 3 teams worth that could compete in Seattle and some parts of CA.
What clubs will these girls play on, I predict FC, THUSC, and WSM.
I am now going to the store to get lottery tickets.

As for your predicted teams, the one I would question is FC. Is that just based on club history? I would think at this age, it is more likely that the OSSA team next year combining the best of SSC/LO and possibly picking up some Rage players would be the best bet long-term to join THUSC & WSM as team #3. If there is a team #3.

It seems like as you head toward HS age, injuries become more prevelant/serious and if you want to travel more than once or twice a year, you might want a couple extra bodies. 14-16 field players is probably about right (add to keepers gets you to 18 - okay nothing earth shattering there).

I also agree about FC. I was just not quite able to figure out what they are missing but they are just not quite there. Rage were certainly closer as was LO. I am not sure that OSSA results in a better combined team than they are separately though. The average talent on the team may improve overall but are the key players there that will put them over the top? I'm not so sure.

I did not go with OSSA as the Rage and SSC good strikers seem to have left their clubs at this point. I did go with FC based on history. I agree though that this team has struggled to get going .
Team 3 will be harder to figure out. It goes back to coaching, fields, drive times, and who has Basketball and LaCrosse players in the mix.
