I don't think anyone was venting about not having there child picked. I think the discussion was about sending too many kids to the USSF training centers. How are we going to get USSF to take us seriously when we're sending 30 kids per age group. USSF has specifically stated that they want national team potential players. We need to listen to there requests and abide by them or they won't be coming back.

and you expect the DOC's of our illustrious 8 with their HUGE egos to not think that every player in their highest level arent good enough to be there ?

the other problem as I see it is you have a large amount of those elite (highly skilled) players taking part in ODP. if they arent supposed to be doing both and these clubs know it, that number of players was just diminished.

I don't know for certain, but I would guess all invites have been notified. The event is in a few days.

If I remember likely we were notified a week or so before the event (Daughter went in the Fall) and 90% were ODP girls. But, not the entire pool of ODP was invited.

I think a little larger number in the first round is good for girls soccer. You all trust coaches and DOCs to pick good promotable players. Hah...on our team, its more who the coach hangs with which parents or they lately recruited. Good to give different than typical players a chance without the politics. It does whittle down on the second round and third to a small group from what we have heard from others who attended in past.

Hah, it's the same on our team. I wish the DOC would watch a few games and make their own decision.

This is the first I've heard of the US training sessions. I would expect with something this big in our area that we would have heard something from the coach or club. Correct me if I am wrong, but maybe we didn't hear about it because it is for ODP players only?

No, I know of just a few that have been notified. Not sure if it is going to happen or not.

My daughter wasn't invited last time, but her best friend went, and hasn't been invited to this current one. I thought we heard it likely wasn't occuring due to a conflict and would be re-scheduled?

Any update on whether this is still on?

Our coach and DOC, and another coach, recommended my child, and I was told recently that this training center was canceled and we would be notified when it was being re-scheduled.

So I am not sure who all is claiming they got their "invites", unless they mean they were sinmply notified that their club coach and/or DOC recommended them. This, however, does not constitute an actual invitation. It goes past recommendation and the DOC's come together to decide on who out of those recommended should indeed attend.

Fair process or not, and believe me I am sure politics run wild in every soccer aspect, this does seem the fairest way to recommend a child. A DOC may have a huge ego, but it's a bit less likely that they are recommending the boot it and toot it kids when they come together and look at who recommended who and why.

It's been cancelled until further notice. I knew trying to send so many kids would make Oregon look like a joke.

It's actually the top 15-30 kids over TWO age groups (95s and 96s, 97s and 98s, etc.) that train together. It's not 30 per age group.

I'm not talking about once you make USSF. I'm talking about our DOC's sending 25-30 kids per age group to be evaluated. The list started out with more than 50.

Seems like some are sending "quantity" over "quality" you think?
