I heard Onyx might be going.

Wouldn't they have gone even without participating in NWCL?

        Maybe...

I think one of the reasons that Onyx might be able to go is because they won the GRFC which gave them an invitation to the Arsenal FC summer tournament in Southern California. Their record against the Washington teams in that tournament might help them get into Surf Cup. Without the competition during the fall against better Washington teams, Onyx might not of pulled off a win in that tournament. Experience against good competition is what makes a team better. NWCL did give that to Onyx and other Oregon teams.

The NWCL was able to get a berth in to Surf Cup for all winners, including the U15-18's

Onyx can probably get into Surf Cup on their own without getting an automatic bid from a tourney win. They showed very well at Mustang last summer getting into the quarters putting them in the company of the Norcal state champs and previous Surf cup winners.

Sorry, you are in the wrong topic. This is about OYSA state cup, this is about advancing to a true regional tournament with the opportunity to play in a true national tournament. OPL state cup is in the topic "State cup Predictions". Go out to the main list, and you should be able to find it...

So why are we talking about Onyx an Surf Cup then ? Neither of which have anything to do with OYSA state cup. Onyx doesnt even play in the OYSA league and Surf Cup isnt even in Oregon.

Wow, truly a rocket scientist...the discussion started about OYSA state cup schedules moved to discussion of the difference between the two associations. Remember the whole world does not revolve around OPL.
