We actually experienced much more physical play in California with lots more being allowed then we ever have in Oregon. It was an eye opener for sure.

And we experienced a lot more physical play in Washington as compared to Oregon. Interesting the different perspectives.

Oh I agree. Washington and California were much, much more physical. The refs allowed much more then they do in Oregon. I don't mean this in a bad way either. I didn't see a lot of dirty play, just more physical.

Watch any women's college game and then you will see how physical a game it is at times. Yes we would all like to see "the beautiful game" all the time but that isn't reality.

However i do agree with the earlier poster that OR players are technically way behind the likes of CA-S, CA-N and CO players as a whole. This needs to be fixed by having quality coaches work with the U8-10 teams like other clubs in other states.

            I kind of disagree

Our daughter plays college soccer (D II) in CA, and we have been very surprised at how little "physical" play is allowed. We have seen many yellow cards issued at the college level for slide tackles and very physical play- stuff that isn't even as physical as what we routinely see in our younger daughter's club soccer games.

There really do seem to be some regional differences in standards for physical play. The challenge is to get our kids to play hard and physical, but to understand where the line is and what might be objectionable to officials in different states.

How about a separate thread rather than posting on every single thread. Really necessary? There. Now I've added to your marketing but you've lost my goodwill from the start.
