That is true, but the tourney has some meaning and specific purpose, as it's the qualifier for the regional/national tourneys. Both for the Presidents and State cup championships these tourneys are ran in effect by the national office with specific rules that are the same nationwide. No one single or group of OYSA clubs personally benefit from it.
The Director's Cup does have specific meaning and purpose: by making the NWCL teams unable to participate, it becomes a great tournament for all the other teams to have a crack at winning a medal without worrying about getting thumped by one of those teams. And there is no single or group of OPL clubs that personally benefit from the Director's Cup -- the myth of the OPL giving money to the eight clubs was shot down a while ago.

Really?...I must have missed that. How was this shot down? I would love to read more.

Go back and search through the forum. It's on here in the big OPL/OYSA debate.

Just about anything is on here

You know not to impugn the integrity of anyone on this forum, but there is a lot of stuff on here I wouldn't give any credibility. Opinions, emotions, hearsay... I am curious was that all that is referenced when the poster above asserts that the original 8 clubs are not the financial beneficiaries of OPL, or is there anything concrete?

Why don't you email the OPL and find out? If you're looking for concrete evidence that would probably be your best bet instead of coming on here and asking.

              That's interesting

So #16 makes a statement challenging what had been a widely held belief, 17 asks for more information, and is then told to go research it themselves. It would be interesting for all to know what the original statement was based on, is this just an opinion, or is there real information here?

Why should anyone on here have to research it for them? If you want answers then ask the OPL. I don't see why you would really care though if you're OYSA.

When someone makes a claim like above, do they have to research it to show where the knowledge comes from? The only reason it would involve research is if it was BS on their part which they got called on. Giving them the benefit of the doubt, the question only seems to ask "how do you make that conclusion?" There is no way to know whether you are the original poster or not, but you seem eager to avoid any discussion of a salient point.

As for your second comment, yes my children play for OYSA, friends have kids who play for OPL, and I as a Soccer consumer am broadly interested in the health of Oregon Soccer. Get a clue. We are not practicing segregation by soccer association. My kids will finish in youth soccer will I then carry a tattoo of the league for the rest of my life?

                  A) an idea like that is so small minded it is sad.
                  B) you recognize truly sound organizations when they are able to receive and respond to comments from the outside. This "don't ask us any questions until we have your money" attitude is disturbing.

Why is it that you only jump oh posts that are bad mouthing or questioning the OPL? If I started a thread questioning OYSA you would have nothing negative to say. Knowing someone who has a kid on OPL does not give you the knowledge. As you say, that's hearsay and you have no knowledge on the subject. You obviously don't want to email the OPL for answers so that seems to mean you don't want to hear the answers.

Here lies the difference. The OPL is a private organization. One that does not have to share any of it's financial heath and welfare and because so, has chosen not to. OYSA on the other hand is a 501C3. One that MUST share it with the public.

Have you seen their finacial statements? They would be way better off not sharing.

All of you with your springs wound tight... I didn't ask the original question... I was interested by the discussion. Excuse me for looking over the fence and wondering how it is going over there. To have a discussion it is necessary to state-question-respond. This is called a discussion board. Not an ambush board, not an attack whoever participates board. The original question still has not been answered. Can 16 substantiate his statement, I would like to know that because if he can, if that changed, that is to the credit of OPC.

Perhaps the only posts you read are those negative ones you reference. I actually post in several different areas. You also don't read very well, because it seems you think I am claiming some knowledge I don't have... My post was saying I would like to know. OPL's information is all private so if someone claims the principal eight do not benefit from the league, the only way to know that is from the inside.

If such information was true it would, honestly, dispel one of my biggest issues with the OPL structure. So I asked a question. Then I get hit with all this unregistered background BS. I still would like to know the answer. No I am not going to call OPL and say " you know I saw this post online that the council member clubs don't benefit from the league financially, is this true?". Whomever made the original statement, why do you believe it to be true?

It stated that the original 8 did not benefit directly from the Directors Cup. I would hope they benefit some from the league since they organized the entire thing.
