    Is your perspective that limited

The percentage of the top players choosing to participate in Oregon ODP has gotten much worse in the last 10 to 15 years. Oregon has grown nearly 2 fold in 20 years so just as a function of population growth-- many better players should be in the Oregon ODP. they are not

What part of not having nearly 500 of the very best players from So. Cal, No Cal, Colorado and Washington even do you not understand? boys side. In addition to this qualatative deduction via US Dev Academy--nation wide Elite Clubs are far better vehicles to promote players than the outdated ODP model. Times change grasshopper...

It's like taking away Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, Chris Paul, Carmelo Anthony , Paul Pierce, Tony Parker, Steve Nash, Dwight Howard and Dwayne Wade out of the NBA and then you tell me how the NBA now Rocks and the blazers are really better than past. (Just to help you subsitutite ODP for NBA and Oregon for Blazers). then you go on to tell me how the blazers stats are much better compared to the kobe less lakers, etc...

ODP is now a third class citizen behind US Dev Academy, Elite club teams...deal.

Again, I can't speak to the boys side. I don't follow it. On the girls side, there are more Oregon girls than ever that are advancing to the Regional teams. At the Regionals this year, the 93 girls lost in the Semis, the 95 girls lost in the championships on PK's to So Cal, and the 96 girls lost in the semis 1-0 to the champions (So Cal). I suppose you'll argue that all the best players in So Cal, No Cal, etc. also are not playing so that is why Oregon is doing so well. Continue to try to bash OYSA all you want, but your analysis and generalizations consistently fail.

When I went to a new parent ODP meeting Eric really made it clear that ODP was not the same as OYSA and did NOT advocated any decisions made by OYSA. He clearly stated over and over again that ODP was seperate from OYSA and did not want to be put in the same category.

Good for Eric (and that's meant to be sarcastic). Hopefully ODP will continue to be supported by OYSA and OPL players alike. ID2 is fine but not nearly as extensive. While not a be-all, end-all, and like it or not, ODP still is a strong factor for recruiters (yes, one of many). (Even NC has a section for "National Team and ODP involvement.") Having a weak Oregon ODP program is not going to help any Oregon player. And most of the players seem to enjoy it.

First of all, what's to stop a player from being on an elite club team that's part of US Dev Academy and ALSO doing ODP?

Second, where are all these great players that ODP is missing? I'm also coming from the girls side but I watch a hell of a lot of soccer around the state - I know who the best players are. Nearly all of them play on ODP.

So as authoritative as you try to sound, what you say just doesn't add up.

Is this true for the '97 girls as well? I didn't see a lot of talent out there from Oregon.

97's were a very weak group. there were may 2 of the top players. I don't know what happened or why the top players did not come out, but I could name them, won't but could. I heard there were also 9 98's in the group. In Utah they did not do well until they played some lower level teams. B team most classic platinum teams could beat.

if you are on a USSF Dev Academy team, it prohibits you from participating in ODP. Part of the rules, set up by US Soccer.

Classic. When you can't back up your position, start your personal attacks. At least you're consistent.

At least 4 of the 5 boys from Oregon that are going to U of P next year did both at one time or another, and a few appear to have done both during the same year. Maybe they did not participate during the same exact time period.

You can get written permission to do both.

thats because your typing to a parent of the player that didnt make the cut. everyone thinks their kids if the best and when they dont get chosen they think the whole program sucks and there is no talent on the team.
