Who they say is registered vs who really registers

Keep in mind that many teams are still figuring their summer tournament schedules and most have not committed. Many times a tournament has listed teams that they have contacted or talked to, but not neccesarily who really will be playing.

      BEND is Awesome

      for vacation...ski..hike..hot tub...relax..golf.

Unless you have a rec team who wants to get a nice bonding trip with some rec level games..don't go to bend for competitive soccer. Ask Bend why they leave the OYSA each winter and go to the Far West League? Live in a world all their own. regarding competitive soccer. The OPL leagues don't even have Bend in them.

What an idiotic statement. Bend leaving town to play in the Far West League has what exactly to do with a tournament? You may not realize this, but the teams actually COME to Bend to play in the tourney. Really, do you have to defend OPL so much so that you would stoop this low. Grow up, moron.

P.S. It's not an OPL Tourney; it's not an OYSA tourney. It's a tourney. The way it should be.

I agree - what a moron. OPL would kill to have Bend teams. Bend is too smart to fold to the OPL pressure and company line where OPL tries to convince everyone they have ALL of the elite teams.

I wish more clubs would have Bend's values and think for themselves and not follow OPL clubs like Lemmings. (and since you are a moron, here is the explanation of the Lemmings comment: Lemming suicide myths are frequently used as metaphors in reference to people who go along unquestioningly with opinions and decisions, with potentially dangerous or fatal consequences.)

[QUOTE=Unregistered;319998]OPL would kill to have Bend teams. QUOTE]

Actually it's the other way around. The OPL KILLED most Bend teams! Bend is a decent club and I would be happy to have them in the OPL with us but in all honesty I'm perfectly happy if they're not as well. We have plenty of competition here and will be doing plenty of travel tournaments so not playing Rush is not going to hurt us, only them.

With all that said I would like to go check out the Rush tournament. Bend is lovely that time of year!

                Reactive posters

Bend has no history of hosting top flight tournaments in Oregon. If you believe otherwise please educate the masses on the unpublished history of Bend Soccer tournaments.

Until then the rest of us who know the truth our morons.

This is Oregon Rush's first tournament. Why not wish them well? Besides, we've all been to plenty of poor tournaments in Portland (LO last summer... what a mess). We're signing up and look forward to playing the Rush teams, which on the girls side, match most OPL teams in quality.

I'm so tired of hearing people complain about the fields for the LO tournament. Were they perfect? NO. Was there dust? YES. Was the parking perfect/ NO. Was the competition good? YES.

People here are way too spoiled when it comes to fields. I've been to Mexico, Brasil, and even England and the fields there are not nearly as nice and you don't hear anyone complaining. They just love to play. Get over it. The fields were a little hard and a little dusty, oh well! I get tired of hearing parents complain about how their little Jonny had a hard time dribbling on the field or couldn't quite get his foot on the ball because of the field conditions. Well guess what everyone else on that field played in the same conditions.

My only gripe about the LO tourney is the cost. It's getting a little out of control as we pay less to go to California then we do to go to LO and play.

Your submission does tend to speak for itself. Even so, Oregon Rush (the club hosting the tourney) is less than five years old and this is its first tourney. I don't know what other Bend teams have done in the past and it doesn't really matter. Soccer in the city and region are dramatically different than 10 and even 5 years ago. Everything OR Rush has done has been first class. The quality of its teams has been excellent, its players guest play throughout the country, its coaches are top notch, its DOC is one of the best in the state, the bulk of the high schoolers on the Bend, Summit, Mt. View, etc. team that have won or been in the State semis the past few years are Rush players, the state 5A players of the year for both the girls and boys are Rush players, 4 of the top 20 rated girls in the NW Region are OR Rush girls, the club is in the process of developing one of the premier soccer complexes in the state, the bulk of its graduates will be playing college soccer, including many D1, and so on.

For a club this young, it has a terrific history and I expect its tournament to be well run with quality teams and conditions. (And this is apart from the region at that time of year and the other activities you have mentioned.) For you to downgrade the tourney based on the fact that Bend is not part of OPL and sending teams through the Far West League, is utter nonsense and, to put it nicely, a non sequitur.

P.S. There are, of course, other wonderful clubs in the state and I don't mean to get into a statistical comparison.

People were appalled at the LO tournament conditions because of the daily parking fee, the absurd dust, and the bees swarming around the fields. Yes, the grass field conditions are common in other countries, but they don't charge people to come and play. What a funny comparison... Lake Oswego and some community grass field in Mexico. LO laughed all the way to the bank on this one.

Apparently you have never been out of the country to play soccer. I doubt this poster was referring to "some community grass field". Tournament fields in other places are closer to the Polo fields than to the Rec center fields and yes they do charge you to come and play. We truely are spoiled by having the rec center. Many other tournaments charge a daily parking fee, they just include it in the registration fee which LO has done this year.

Apparently some people on here need perfect conditions to play the game. I agree with the other poster. I would allow my kid to go back to the LO tourney because the competition is great. I'd rather pay for better competition then better fields. But then again my child loves to compete and doesn't care when or where. Maybe your child needs the perfectly trimmed grass field and the umbrella for shade to produce some good results.
