Ireland scored with less than 2 to go in 2nd OT to tie it up 3-3. Last FC shooter had a chance to tie in PK's, beat the goalie, it the post flush and bounced back into play. Ireland wins.

Congrats to Marine for a job well done! Best game I have watched all season long. Too bad you girls couldn't of brought home a win. Class act to the girls, coaches, parents and club.

Hey, do not beat up the Ireland girls or the parents for the banner. We were just as surprised as anyone else when it appeared.

I saw the banner. Thought it was a little low.... but not as bad as some of the parents checking who they were sitting by on the plane to NM. I also pre-purchased tickets again. Good this they don't have to return them this time.
It is funny what parents will say when they don't know who they are talking around.

It was very poor taste indeed. Considering Marine whooped them pretty good in the spring and the only team to do so, I thought it was inappropriate.
Also funny, The THUSC coaches that showed up to the game a little late said loudly after they found out the score was 1-0 Ireland, "That's it game over, Marine is done." How funny to be so loud and arrogant and obnoxiuos. No wonder everyone speaks so unkind about THUSC. This weekend I saw many example as to why!

really - this is the topic?
I don't have a daughter in this age group, but saw some of the final and was impressed with both teams.
Looking for some soccer talk about a great match, and get the losing parents complaining about a banner and the other club - really? I think a youth team that wins 4 state championships should be congratulated - very disapointing sportsmanship on display.
Both teams appeared to leave it all on the field - isn't this what we strive for for our kids. Nice work for the girls, not so much the parents on this site.

Wow, this forum really is full of whiners. It's like people have nothing else to do but to find things to complain about. Why don't you email the NBA teams who put on the Western Conference Championships hat right after winning? I mean how dare they!!
These are 14-15 year old girls. If they wanted to make a banner in case they won then let them. The banner turned out to be accurate so I see no problem with them brining it out. If you're going to complain about something then at least make it worth it.

I don't think OYSA paid for the banner, and certainly didn't have a similar banner made up for FC Portland in case they won. People wonder why THUSC in general is despised; there is a large difference between confidence and arrogance. Many of the THUSC parents and coaches have an arrogance about them--there is no humility or grace with winning. I mean, the first thing they do is come to a youth soccer forum to bellow about winning 4 State Cups. From Neon holding a press conference at a downtown Portland hotel when their players signed letters of intent, to Ireland parents pre-purchasing a State Champions banner, to Sodium's blogger, there is very little class displayed with their winnings. And that makes a big difference, because however nice the kids may be, it's their parents and coaches who make the largest contribution to their poor reputation.
