Looking Onward

Not a bad list wondering. I've not seen much of the Silver teams so I'm not sure about Athletica being ahead of Lake O. I gotta keep Bend up top on my list, although right now it might be a toss up between them and Marine. Possession has been in a funk for a while now so I gotta keep them in the middle of the pack until they show a little more consistency. I agree, they do have the potential to do some damage if they can find their game again. Energy as well, but we gotta give them time to adjust to all of their changes. I think the State Cup could definitely be exciting this year.

You guys have more guts than I in making predictions. Nonetheless, having seen both Ireland and Storm last weekend (in addition to many times over the years), I can offer some observations.

If the teams played 100 times, they'd probably split them. Each shows great skills and ball movement. Nonetheless, Ireland seems to be slowing down.

They used to thrash teams with strength, speed, and "first to the ball" aggressiveness. Now, their goal margins are slimmer and they depend more on set plays. They have the big kids take the corners and then wonder why no one is finishing them. They even resorted to the offside trap against us a couple of times.

More telling is that their parents' cool confidence has given way to anxiousness. They yell to the players and whine about the refs just like the rest of us.

Please know that I am not suggesting that Ireland is weak or imploding. The hard work that those girls have put in over the years still shows. Notwithstanding the 1-0 finish, they were clearly the better team last Sunday. I would simply not bet against Bend at this point.

I have noticed this as well. I was just afraid to be the first to say it :o

Ireland

People have commented that is was inevitable that other teams would start catching up. Ireland even as a U11 team had so much physical maturity and on the field discipline. It seems remarkable to me that a group of 10 year olds started off so strong. I'd bet a core group of them played together for years in Rec. They will continue to be at the top of Oregon girls soccer because of that great foundation, just maybe not so dominant.

Eggy- Thank for finally putting us above FC Portland But I think FCSC need to good down one, FC Vancouver that one and below could be about any of the 5 of those teams. It is hard to figure FC Vanc. because the level they are playing.

You got Nemi way to high. They are playing in Silver... You already lost to Marine when it counted (ie. the reason your in Silver if my memory is correct). If you traveled to Bend, they could take you. Playing on your horrible fields in SW, that might be a different out come. Sunderland has really picked it up since adding the 2 new players. And you have Dynamite WAY to high. They never play well and Energy SOUNDLY stomped them in CQTs.

And there is NO way a D1 team should be anywhere near the middle much less the top. They have a clubs C team they play against. Then you compare them against Gold level teams playing against other Gold level teams... No B teams to be found in gold or even silver. I mean they've given up GOALS in D1. And over half of there goal count is against the C team. Talk about an a-hole coach running the scores up like that. But once they play someone at a decent level (ie. CQTs and PQTs) you could see they were not very good. Marine didn't score against them but had MANY chances including a PK. And they LOST to PCU. Come on. PCU!!!!! You've got to be kidding. PCU...??? If FC Van is that high in Washington, then there must be a HUGE drop off in talent from Timbers being only 7th to them being 21st.

You must not have played at the FCSC fields. They are probably the best grass fields around. Are you G-13? We need games in November, come play us.
