Have you been studying off the internet again? All of your "well documented" information is straight off of the "Democrats Today" website where their slogan says "If you are too stupid to be a republican, WE WANT YOU! You do know that 95% of the information on the internet is fake news, right?! I know this because I read the article on the...internet! So I know your intellect comes right off of the Google search engine. The "Trump Was A Millionaire By 8" article is right after the article on "How To Get Rich, From The Rich, While Sitting On The Couch". The "How Trump Beat Hillary By Cheating" article was right after the "You Can Do It Too..How To Win An Election In The Bronx While Being Dumb As A Box Of Rocks AND A Waitress". The, "Trump Says He Can See Russia From The White House Steps" article, was right after the, "Saturday Night Live Will Host All Of The Democratic Debates in 2020". Nothing wrong with reading the fake news on the internet, but you really need to live life in reality and think twice about showing your ignorance while writing on public forums. Go Bernie in 2020, right?! Go "Kawala" Harris in 2020?! Go "Sitting Dove" Warren in 2020?! Or maybe if you guys are really lucky... "Go Alexandria the Waitress O-C" in 2020!!! LOL

There certainly is the trend for athletes transfering to play the final year and begin graduate school
The advantage to being red shirted is they can graduate in their major and start a masters in communication or fitness training while they have one year of eligibility left, and they can transfer to a better academic college for that final year to play and not have to sit out.

There's that. And sometimes there may be a junior or senior on the squad who justifiably should be getting all the PT but the coach wants to hold on to the new recruit as part of a long term plan. It happens quite a bit with GKs where many frosh GKs just aren't ready for the big show. Also, most times coaches don't red shirt bench warmers. They red shirt the players they want to hold on to and think have more potential for their long term plan. Sitting out a year is incredibly frustrating but it isn't necessarily a bad sign. What matters is that you train hard, stay focused and give it 150% the next year

While the kids who apply after completing two years at a JUCO or Comm College have a high success rate (full credit for their hard work and efforts) you ignore the large number that finish community college with their AA and do nothing more or those who never finish their AA.

The simple truth is if you kid didn't get in, they didn't have the grades or scores to do so. Those that went to CC probably saved themselves from being washed out the 1st year and gained the experience of college coursework and are better prepared for it.

Depending on their desired major, it will take them longer to graduate and they will have a slightly harder time getting into grad school. This is not always the case but more often than not, CC grades have a tougher hill to climb again....depending on their major.

Getting an Engineering, Physical Science, Medical School hopefuls have high drop out rates or major changes to begin with.

Communications, Educations and Business Degrees are more easily attainable for those coming up through CC or JUCO's.

You sound like you are trying to convince everyone that the same value applies to going through the CC route has the same or better value than being a freshman admit at a respected and ranked university. While CC's and JUCO have place and give opportunities to those who are unable to get in initially, it is not the same value and can make things more difficult.
Not so. There are lots of students walking around universities and even community colleges with combined 1400/4.0 who don't get into UF or FSU or choose to go to the community college for whatever reasons. There are too many qualified students to fit into the 6,500 maximum freshman seats available at UF or FSU. Over 50,000 seniors will graduate meeting the qualifications for the Academic Scholars top Bright Futures award in Florida. Also UF and FSU are beginning to go for the out-of-state money grab because an out-of-state student is worth much more money. One Example- At UF in fall 2017, the fall freshman headcounts at UF were close to 5% freshman out of the total undergraduates with over 25% of those freshman counted being from out-of-state. Twenty percent were classified sophomores with about 10% of those being out-of state. About 35% were classified juniors with 5% of those being from out-of-state. And about 40% of the fall undergraduate count were seniors with 4% of those being from out-of-state. Clearly, the data was showing the trend for UF to admit and enroll more out-of-state freshman and to admit a lot more Florida community college folks in as juniors. It is evident it is much easier to get into UF as a junior transfer than as a freshman. Even the community college student who might have an easier time keeping up the GPA at the community college may have an easier time being accepted into their major at UF than the student who went to UF and might have struggled being away from home and on their own. There are many students who drop out of UF and FSU or who can't keep their GPA high enough to get into the major college they want as juniors. Who knows what the data will be for the actual fall headcount at UF for fall 2019.

No she just hates lobbyists. Read her post. The problem with conservatives is that the voters support Israel because they believe its existence is a precondition to the second coming of Christ, and Republicans in Congress support Israel becaues AIPAC pays them to do so. That was her point, and I think it is valid. We can't have a congress for hire, and we can't kow tow to a bunch of religious kooks just because the profess (falsely) to be Christian.

The university recieved a record amount of applications at more than 41,000, which resulted in a more competitive class. The test scores and GPA of students admitted into the new class proved to be higher than previous years.

The more than 14,000 students who were admitted for Summer B and Fall had an average GPA of 4.45, average SAT score of 1388 and average ACT score of 31, UF spokesperson Steve Orlando said.

Last year, the admitted class of about a similar size had an average GPA of 4.4, SAT score of 1364 and an ACT score of 30."

To have a 4.45 GPA by the end of the high school Junior year transcript (the only transcript UF, FSU, UCF and USF will take) the student would need to be taking a full schedule of Dual Enrollment , AP, or IB type classes and getting A's in those classes. UF and FSU each expect to actually enroll only about 6,500 students. There are over 50,000 students in Florida expected to graduate in May 2019 with the highest level of the Florida Bright Futures Academic Scholars Award that pays for 100% tuition and books. UCF and USF are enrolling the majority of the Florida Bright Futures Academic Scholars. The students with these awards generally are not attending community college because the tuition cost is much lower and they want to get the most for their scholarship. Ironically though, many of the students who attend UF and FSU want to get out of those colleges for the summer and go back home and are transient students at the local community colleges in the summer. The Bright Futures award covers summer tuition at the community colleges.
College in Florida is not what it once used to be. Hard working Florida students with decent grades and test scores could get into the state universities and be very successful in college. Many are the CEOs, lawyer, doctors, entrepreneurs in Florida's work force today. Now they tell the students they aren't successful and can't get admitted without mean GPA of 4.1 and 1290 or higher. And the standards go up every year to get in. Look at UF at mean 4.45 and 31 ACT or 1400 SAT to get admitted for fall 2019. A 31 on the ACT or 1400 SAT places a student in the top 95th percentile nationally out of the 2 million students taking the ACT this year. Then combine that with having a 4.45 cumulative weighted GPA on the JUNIOR year transcript that colleges use for admitting. Then the student would have to have a whole holistic perfect profile of being a leader and maybe a Cuban American to get admitted.

On top of that issue, the top seniors apply to the same top four big public universities to see where they get accepted and to have backups. The universities to not discriminate would have to accept the same top seniors with the highest test scores, GPA and holistic profile. The rest of the top seniors with full bright futures scholarships to pay for 100 % of the tuition are left in the dust to find a community college. The good news is that many of them only have to spend about a year at the community college with so many AP credits to get the AA that they are admitted into the big public university and the college of their major in a year.

This is the exact reason why UCF and USF are winning out. They have the room to take a lot more incoming top Bright Futures students. Also, they have rolling admissions so every student who doesn't get into another college think can apply later and get admitted. UCF and USF are plucking all the top ones into the spring and offering them nice merit packages.

Don't forget to add that UCF and USF have men's and women's college soccer teams and UF and FSU do not. Orlando has the Lions and Pride. Tampa has the Rowdies.

As a reminder -- if your goal is to play NCAA Division I or II or NAIA sports, you must be registered with these respective Eligibility Centers (NCAA -- NAIA). If you have not been offered an official athletic opportunity, connect with the coach at your chosen university and ask about being a “preferred walk-on.” While you will not receive any athletic award as a “walk-on” your first year -– you just might earn athletic aid your second year.
(taken from the college bound seniors checklist thread)

Most colleges also have traveling Club soccer teams and Intramural soccer teams they can be a part of.
