Colleges are restricted to a certain number of play dates in the spring. By doubling up games on those dates they maximize the allowable dates of competition.

FSU playing Georgia ODP and club teams. Boy, times have changed since then with soccer and freshman admittance criteria. FSU and UF need to get with the times and get men’s soccer.

UF will never have men's soccer. Its unfortunate but the Football program will never allow a competitor like that.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) — The University of Florida Police Department is currently investigating a sexual battery that occurred Saturday night on UF campus near the Florida Gym.

In a UF Alert, UFPD says that the report was from a food services employee supervisor to whom the victim confided.

According to the report, the woman was in an alleyway north of the Florida Gym and south of the Student Recreation and Fitness Center when an unknown male approached behind her and sexually battered her. The victim was unable to provide any suspect description or additional details of the incident to the reporting person.

UFPD is asking anyone with information about the incident, or was in the area at the time, or who may know the man’s identity is asked to call the University of Florida Police Department.
The battery incident occured by the gym where the soccer players train. The newer bigger student recreation center is farther off of campus.

USF and UCF have men’s soccer and FSU and UF do not. Also USF women soccer beat UCF women. UCF beat UF women. FSU women were national champions.

USF was awarded Preeminent status like UF and FSU. Average GPA to get into USF has risen to 4.2.

Isn't that basically a "B" average given the extra points you get for AP and advanced classes?

USF opened a full Publix on campus. The chicken tender sub line must be out the door.

                            Honors classes- A equals .5 jump to a 4.5
                            AP , DE , IB - A equals 1.0 jump to a 5.0
However, it is not easy to get an A in a college class even in high school. Also, most students only take a few DE and AP type classes their junior and senior years. Even with getting straight A's the four years, the regular and elective classes will keep a GPA down lower. There are no students with 4.8 and 5.0 GPAs and 4.6 is about the highest possible. The students getting into UF walk in with about 30 to 40 college credits under their belts.

UF, FSU, USF and UCF want to keep up their Public college pre-eminent status to get more research money and to keep moving up in the top public college rankings. To keep the pre-eminent status they must have a high mean GPA and SAT-ACT for the freshman admittance class whose statistics are tracked. Most of the high achieving students in Florida apply to the Big Four to see if they can get admitted and get scholarships. This has left the A- and B+ average students and students who aren't A standardized test takers out in the dust.

Not always. Some schools inflate grades terribly, even AP classes, and not all kids will pass the AP exams. Poorer districts also don't have as many advanced courses and poorer students can't afford to take college classes and local CCs. Our school does not inflate grades, much to the consternation of parents and kids. Sure they're very well prepared for the challenges of college. But often enough they don't have the GPA numbers to get in the door to top schools (they will have the test scores but that often isn't enough). Local schools know how strong our HS is and it's less of an issue. Schools further away don't realize how challenging our HS is and there's lots of disappointments this time of year.
