      To quote Patrick Ewing:

We make a lot of money, but we spend a lot of money, too.

Doesn't matter what your income level is. If you're not in the 1% then most likely all of your expenses keep going up but your income is not at the same pace. Insurance, utilities, cars, certainly the cost of college all rising faster than average incomes.

No one should be using club soccer as a college fund. There are NO guarantees in any of it - playing at all let alone getting decent money. On the men's side athletic grants are a joke. You should be doing club soccer because you love it and hopefully can afford it. If it leads to something that's great, but it won't for most except at the higher levels. If you can't afford it or have to pick and chose, chose academic and SAT tutors and bank the rest for college. Seriously. Kids with good grades can get far more in academic money, particularly from private schools. As an added bonus academic $ stick all four years as long as you keep up your GPA. Same with Financial Aid (as long as your income doesn't change). If you're not in the Power 5 conferences athletic $ are year to year - get cut or quit or the coach wants to give your money to new freshman? $ gone.

There are also expenses that didn't exist in the past. There were no cell phone bills or internet bills. Sports were all done with volunteers so all it cost was a nominal fee to play.

I know that's right. Check this out...I have three teenagers and one is driving. Me, my wife and kids each want a phone. Our phones are paid for, and the bill is still $200. We have cable and internet with one premium channel and it's another $200. That's almost $5K a year for a reasonable level of entertainment. Don't get me started on car insurance with a teenage driver. It all adds up!

It must be expensive too with all of the tampons. Sounds like you need them too.

lol I remember when my basic cable bill was $25/month....

Kids cost you much more as they get older - clothes, car insurance (omg if you have a teenage boy or two, holy sh*t), electronics, activities. Those costs go up much faster than the typical salary increases.

Damn. I've seen you post twice on this thread just straight up ANGRY that people make more than you.

How about taking responsibility for your poor life choices which PUT you in the 5 figure earning bracket and stop hating on people who have made it to 6 figure incomes? Pointing the finger and accusing 6 figure earners of "crying" while you bawl your eyes out and stomp your feet because your skill set only allows you 5 figure income. Weak.

BTW, I need you to get over here and finish power washing my driveway today. Thx.

My wife says those are really expensive too. Girls cost way more than boys - clothes, makeup, hair care. My girl's bathroom looks like a Sephora store.
