Attention: Orlando City Youth Soccer Club Families

With the 2015-16 season is underway, now is an opportune time to update to all members regarding Orlando City and its youth team programs.

First, the OCYS Board of Directors has determined the necessity of a leadership change and parted ways with its former Executive Director Steve Rammel. Steve's work and contributions to the organization over the past couple years are appreciated. Rest assured, there will be no disruption in our daily operations on or off the field as the capable full-time staff at OCYS, led by Laura Halfpenny (Business Manager). Paul Shaw (Boys DOC), and Alan Hough (Girls Academy Director), will manage affairs in their respective areas with additional support as needed from the front office staff of our MLS team at their disposal.

This leadership transition offers a natural opportunity to analyze and strengthen our operational structure and processes. To that end, Paul McDonough (MLS Team General Manager) and I in our capacity as OCYS Board members are undertaking an internal assessment of all aspects of our youth structure. Understanding that effectuating some of the changes may take time in order to reach the requisite levels (for instance, improvement of field quality), our intent is to make positive enhancements in numerous areas immediately.

Achieving these positive changes will require not only strong daily management and leadership, along with active strategic direction from its Board of Directors, but also a renewed focus on creating an exceptional customer experience for member players and their families. Whether this is the quality of our facilities, the frequency/timeliness of our communications, or the level of training & competitions, we will strive to exceed the expectations of our members in all interactions as a matter of club philosophy. Once new initiatives have been presented to and approved by the OCYS Board for implementation, there will be further and more detailed communication.

Finally, and in order to arrive at the optimal structure to best serve the entire club community, it is of critical importance that the overall philosophy, culture, and initiatives of our club be properly aligned at all levels. We are all part of a single club, ORLANDO CITY , whether it is a MLS game, an in-house recreational league game, an ECNL game, or any other Orlando City soccer / community program - it is all one Orlando City. The fact that we have a completely vertically-integrated club at all levels for both genders under a single, globally-respected soccer brand is what makes what we are all a part of truly special and the foundation for our future growth and success.

As always, thank you for being a part of Orlando City. We are deeply passionate about this club and highly focused on serving our members at all levels.

    Regards,

    Tim Holt
Vice President of Development, Orlando City Soccer Club
Board Member, Orlando City Youth Soccer
This is a very well written letter, full of futuristic statements. Unfortunately the community has seen several of these already. I reality rec soccer has become very expensive, nothing has been done productively at the grass root levels where it impacts the most. We do not see the people who are in position have that passion or dynamic leadership or that sense of community belonging. Arrogance and Big Show, Big Brand mentality is practiced too early. Phil has that great vision but it is not transpired all to the bottom or foundation!

    TH:
why don't you send us a more realistic, actionable plan? Some kind of renderings for the youth program? how it will look like 2 months from now, 6 months, year and 2 years?
Will we be bankrupt or proud of being part of Orlando City?

    Goooooo City.

Look in the mirror.
So true. AH really screwed up bringing the FCA cancer to ECNL. All the other teams function well. Girls are there to get to the next level and play heads up team soccer. The daughters of these idiots play "me first" soccer and their stats don't bear out any level of talent above mediocre. But their terrible attitudes, infighting and blaming others ran off the real talent on that team. Now they are getting shelled and the rest of the season will be so telling. Should have stayed with the talent AH. You bought into these dad's BS and thought the team could not survive without the FCA Mafia. Truth is the team is much better without them and their helicopter dads.

        What are you talking about????!!!
The team took a beating 7-0!!!

What kind of delusional parent says, "they played solid and was close until the latter end" of a 7-0 game??!!

The latter end of what? The first five minutes. C'mon dad. Your girls got the crap kicked out of them. It was worse than the beat downs Charlotte gave you last year.

You should have 4 easy wins this month but I say you will be lucky to go 2-2 against teams you owned last year. It is going to be a long season filled with your excuses, rationalizations and platitudes. The only thing you have to look forward to is the end of the season. No way you losers finish higher than 6th place.

Don't waste your breath she is responding over and over to her own posts as someone different. Let her vent it is rather sad but funny. Please stay away from Fkk and Ocys.

Money grubbing always looking for handouts. Terrible person.

wow. I took a look and it shows 23 players on the roster. Does this mean that they'll have 25+ on the roster?

Well said. Passion and sense of community would go such a long way.

Will ECNL be making the change to birth year? If so, the FCA mafia will be split up as some are 99 and the ringleader is '00. Could be the best thing that ever happened to that program. My condolences to the '00 parents.

You won't get any argument from me on MP. But I think you fail to realize that these girls are all turning 16 this year. Most will be driving themselves to practice. Many have already cut the cord and really aren't tied to mommy's apron strings anymore. You deal with MP as you would any rowdy fan. Show her the door and tell her to watch all future games from the parking lot. I just find it ironic that some of the OC U16 parents find her so offensive when they are the ones running up and down the sidelines daddy coaching. Think about that. You pay OC thousands of dollars to coach your kids and then contradict them from the sideline. Actually saw a girl tell her dad to shut up last year. It was priceless.

MLS OC sucks. The style of play sucks. AH sucks. PR sucks. When are we going to figure it out. We suck.

Currently I agree that we are sucking. At least we have a team that can suck, can we get better, yes but it is frustrating to lose.

What is your team style of play?

At one time, Coach AH of MLS laid out youth soccer playing style to be consistent throughout the club.
We were at Disney and observed a big difference between team styles. Some teams play kick long balls and others have good possession style. We saw a coach shout at a player for not long-kicking the ball but using the keeper and then the keeper takes a long shot in the air to nobody. Confusing to see such stupidity from coaches, there is room to improve..... you guys are not perfect. But know what you are supposed to develop, if not consult with your DOCs.....

For the most part all teams play the same but with that being said some ages when you get down to the lower tier teams do not have talent so they basically have to do whatever it takes especially earlier in the season as they are trying to put it together. However all the purple teams play pretty much the same. Don't think AH has time to come around and evaluate his progress with the youth. He's looking to survive in the MLS and is doing horrible.
