Several purple team players are already told OCYS is not for anyone who think they can make it to DA or ECNL from within. If they were so good, they already would have been in DA and ECNL. Once you are in any of the non-DA and non-ECNL team, whether you stay or leave, you are done for life. So best strategy is to join only when they pick you for DA or ECNL. Until then stay far away from OCYS as possible. This is exactly what OCYS top coaches advised us!
This such BS. Just accept the fact that your kid got a free pass to play ECNL because most of the girls left for FKK and AH did not have time to build the roster. Once he was able to recruit, your kid was not able to show in tryouts like the girls that came from all over to play for him. That said, if she shows improvement and has the ability to compete for a spot, her being a purple player has no more bearing than a kid from Rush, FKK or FCA.

just allow her to choose her path and make sure she understands that sports are about ability, not how dedicated or passionate you are. We have kids that barely touch the ball playing ECNL. Not fair to the Purple players working their tails off but fair has nothing to do with it. You want to play with the best, knock that kid out that never touches the ball. Otherwise STFU and accept the truth.

Agree with you in principal, but what about the fact that AH continues to recruit for ECNL and add names to the roster? If players are getting knocked down from the top, how is anyone supposed to move up from below?

Have you seen their standardised curriculum by any chance? Can you post it?

For many parents, 3 to 5K a year is nothing but entertainment budget. For those, it is the best show in town is OCYS.

For those who are serious about soccer, stay far away. In fact think twice joining any club god fathered by the FYSA mafia, there is absolutely no serious soccer development in their agenda!

It's not about the community, it's about being the best of the best. OC is recruiting nationally and doing it successfully. Just because your local doesn't mean anything. In reality, central Florida could support another DA/ECNL club.

More BS. You FKK nut jobs love to come on here and stir the pot. OCYS is far more aligned with US Club Soccer at the higher levels. FYSA is rec teams.

Good for you. Enjoy the higher fees, paying for all your travel and selling donuts on the street corners and in front of Publix after your games each weekend. What is next over there? You going to put your kids in those panhandle zones downtown?

Two years at FKK and never seen a doughnut. Lol, that is creative though. I have seen two state titles though! A ton of kid move on to college and a soccer family. I won't be negative.

The way to move up from below is to be better than the the players who are already on the top teams, and better than the players that are coming from other clubs. I don't know why this is such a difficult concept for some of you to understand.

I agree. I think it comes from the mentality of parents. Paying club dues and feel their child is entitled to equal play rules. The truth is ECNL is highly competitive and the rule if the DOC is to continue to recruit the best talent and teach them to play together. So many parents have fond memories of those U10-13 years where the teams developed together and they feel ECNL should follow the same structure. The truth is that ECNL is a brutal season and every team is hit with injuries and absences as players.go to ID2, ODP and National Team camps. A good ECNL coach is constantly looking for talent and conversely plenty of opportunities exist for Purple players if they are ready. The hard reality is that being dedicated and putting in the work does not mean you are ready to play ECNL.

Not a difficult concept, just one that has no basis in reality. You believe there are players on the Purple teams who are better than the girls being recruited from 4 hrs away? Why do you think they're being recruited?

Sure if it was track or some other sport based purely on athletics. Soccer is a skill sport. Players can improve and it all boils down to who can produce when it is game on. It is one sport where the biggest, fastest and quickest is not always the best. Ask Messi.

What?????? Your daughter is not the best. Get a new pair of glasses. If she's at OC and we're doing as well as you imagine then she'd be called up.

At FKK and loving the experience after trying OCYS its a refreshing organization. I might attend an MLS game although not really a fan but did not want my children surrounded by all the business drama at OC. To each there own

There is no way that a girl or boy in the purple teams will continue to move up to DA or ECNL with only 2 day practices for purple vs 4 to 5 day practices for ECNL/DA. The only way for ECNL/DA programs to continue growing is through recruitment from other clubs or programs. All you have to do is look at gotsoccer rankings and notice several of the teams slipping down in rankings. Practice is important and when you don't have a lot or are denied more practice then your child will not move up.
