one good thing about being poor and 23, you qualify for grants. couple those grants with a part-time job and college is covered. plus you are older and actually care about learning.

then think of all the ladies you would meet as a former pro-player.

We do agree more training is required for all. We believe those GB /CM teams should get 4 days. All other teams should also get minimum 3 days and 4th optional for either skills or SAQ (based on team level evaluation)
We also believe Boys and Girls should be treated equally for training opportunities.

What OCYS has done:
1. cut training to each and everyone in the club- compared to what we used to get at EOS, CFU, Kraze/Krush, FCA....probably every club.
2. FEEs have been increased
3. League costs and coaches league game costs are transferred to team accounts
4. Records show they WILL NOT pick from PERPLE OR any lower teams for ECNL or DA
- that is because they effectively destroyed those kids growth potential by denying training opportunities

Then few teams under SELECT Highly PAID Coaches are looking good by showing 3 days training compared to other teams 2 days. Reality is they have reduced from 4 days to 3 for few and
reduced 4 days to 2 for every other team at same level!

There may be a couple of teams whose coach has scheduled a 3rd practice but those are few and far between. I filtered and sorted that list. It shows U-9 thru U-12 Boys purple teams (GB and CM) having 3 times per week practices.
All other teams have 2 practices, including Purple Girls teams at same age level.

'Best of the best ' the gk and that's it. You lose credibility when you say things like that. Not even the best in Orlando !

Wonderful about sports. I can have my opinion and you can have yours. But it gets settled on the field now doesn't it? So we will see about your statement. In regards to mine, I was simply pointing out that kids are driving up to 2-hours to play for this team. These are kids that aren't happy with the level of competition in Melbourne or Gainesville so they are doing their homework and eating in the car so they can play on this team. I say that takes some pretty serious dedication and I have seen their talent. So I do believe they are the best of the best. Fortunately, I don't have to prove it. See you at the pitch mate!

For someone who was there last year you really don't have a clue what happened. This was not a "come to practice and I'll take a look at you" . AH offered her a spot on the team, uniform was ordered etc. AH did not expect the reaction he got from the parents and girls.

If you were there last year you would know other former FCA players left when they heard this group of FCA players and parents were coming over.

Now I do agree it's in everyone best interest not to mix those players and parents together again. The mom should have stayed at WFF but lets tell the truth about what really happened. If AH did not offer her a spot then why are they paying for the uniform that was ordered? Plus I have seen the text dating back to last year asking her to leave WFF and come to OC.

One player left the U14 to go play for FKK. We miss her but wish her well because you won't find a nicer family or a more dedicated player.

I am going to tell you one cold hard truth about ECNL. This ain't your little Orlando community club where the great players do not have to worry about their slots and mom and dad get to socialize and hold court on the sideline. This is real soccer. It is the same environment they will have in college. You make the team every practice. You don't show well, you sit. There is a kid warming up on the sidelines just waiting to take your slot. These girls have to be focused because of the competition.

So when a kid comes into practice expecting the girls to roll out the red carpet and mom strolls up and down the sidelines expecting everyone to welcome her and thank her for bringing God's gift to girl's soccer to the team, well, you get what happened. Maybe the kid was a little rattled by the cold reception. Maybe she just had an off day. One thing is certain. Both mom and player left a lot less cocky than when they walked in.

Haven't we all been there? You think you are good and then a team rolls in and shows you just how much you need to improve. That is exactly what happened at that practice and I was right there watching the whole thing. The pace, the movement, everything was beyond this kid's ability. What is a real travesty is when parents start slinging mud and blaming coaches, other parents and players because their kid just does not have what it takes to make the team. BTW - another player came out at the same time and was offered a roster slot. Team is all full now with some outstanding discovery players coming in that are going to shock the hell out of a few of the Orlando Good 'Ol parents.

So kvetch all you want about OC being unfair and not treating players equally. Guess what? They aren't equal. IF your kid makes it to college, she will face the same competitive environment with the same "prove it or lose it" mentality on the field. Sorry if that does not sit well with you. Go back to the community clubs and bring your chair. I am sure the good 'ol boys will welcome you back to the gossip circle.

I don't think you read the post. "those players and parents" are not causing problems. They don't congregate, they are not vocal and they really don't stand out anymore than any other club parent. What you seem to be unable to comprehend is that the FCA kids are older and more independent.

That means everyone has a new attitude. Tougher competition and bigger expectations have the girls on edge. They literally glare at their parents if they take one step towards the coach. Seriously. These kids have their parents on full lock down. I have not heard a peep from the sideline since August. Why do you think that is? Because mom cheers or dad jeers and daughter gives them the "I told you not to embarrass me" stare.

See, these girls are not walking through GCF or CDL games and planning their trophy acceptance pose for State Cup. They know what is on the line and they are on their toes. When you play against US National Teams and you get schooled daily by the U18 team (who they train with) you learn humility really fast. Everyone has their head straight and is focused on giving their all out there. Nobody is looking to cause trouble on either side of the sideline.

If it is a showcase then they take the best right? My sons age group has two teams from fl that are not ranked in the top 100 with no history How does that work when there were better teams not accepted?

Un-qualified people and non-standard processes and very low level of quality!
