Red cards for offensive comments on TS
Relatively new to the site. I have to say... I'm beyond shocked. With a new season starting and with some big games this weekend...the top threads are about bashing a guy and his failed business from 2 years ago, a woman that switched clubs, fat kids and comments about Disney parking attendants and their lack of teeth. Seriously? Does anyone on Talking Soccer actually want to discuss soccer? Who won today? What teams looked strong? Any surprises or sleeper teams today? No... We would rather sit in a hole talking negatively about everything in the world but soccer. We wonder what's wrong with kids today. They learn behavior first at home. And as I read the nothing but toxic comments from parents of players... I suddenly understand why things get so heated in games or on the sidelines. It's just plain nasty. I don't even need to honor this blogging behavior with a fancy description. It's mean and nasty. I propose that we start to issue "red cards" to people posting offensive and nasty comments that have nothing to do with the game of soccer. Make them sit in the penalty box. Make them be responsible for their comments. If they want to be part of TS - Make them discuss the game. Let's begin to teach our players to play passionately and competitively but fairly. Let's show them that grown adults can do that too - let's discuss the game of soccer - passionately and competitively but fairly. Grow up people!
