"seeking players from Lakeland, Ocala, Palm Coast and Vero Beach."

The arrogance and/or ignorance of the brain trust at OCYS ECNL is astounding. They actually posted a document on their website trying to recruit players from outside Orlando. Orlando metro has a population of 2.1 million people and from that OCYS can't field 90 elite female soccer players between the ages of 15-18?

Sad but true. What's the most discouraging is that they are feebily attempting to right the titanic of girls soccer at OCYS by changing fields and hiring 2 part time, on paper only, coaches. Really?? You think that will help? Are you kidding me? How about some real change. Even folks that don't know any better see through these moves as being superficial and not capable of changing the direction of ECNL at OCYS. Well at least OC has been warned and slapped with probation. Just sad to see OC not taking it seriously. Let the chips fall where they may next year.

So what would you do smart one?... they don't have time to develop the players now and make them stars in a years time. So recruiting has to be done for immediate impact..

Didn't they file charges against others last year for "Recruiting"?

So I'm assuming that none of the other ECNL clubs recruit from the surrounding area? All of their players come from the metropolitan area that those clubs are located in? For example, there are no players from Ft. Myers, Naples, Lakeland, etc. on the WFF ECNL teams?

WFF doesn't have to move their practice location to lure players in. Bulk of the players come from Brandon/greater tampa area.

Not with OCYS, but might tryout there. Under Tryouts link on OCYS website it says Program Fee Structure "will be posted the week of May5th" but today is May 13. Is the fee information posted and I am not finding it? If it is not yet posted, does anyone know when they plan to do that? Failure to post this information would seem to impair the per-registration process (one 'required form' asks parents to acknowledge we have read, understand and agree to the fee and payment schedule, but can't do that until the fee and payment schedule is provided). Thanks if anyone has information on this.

Are you really naive enough to believe that they wouldn't try to move their practice location if it would help attract better players (or coaches)? Aren't they supposed to try to "lure" players in? Isn't that the point of ECNL? Isn't that what all clubs do, even if they aren't in ECNL? If moving the practice location helps them do that, doesn't it make sense to do so?

I disagree. While there are certainly people at FKK that don't like OCYS, there are many many more from other clubs as well. My point is that OCYS seems to think that FKK is the source of its problems- it's not. OCYS has been its own biggest problem.

And again- a little humility to replace the fanfare and pageantry would be productive. All this stuff about being the World's Most Professional Youth Club (an exaggeration, I know) just sets you up for ridicule when you can't put on a decent tournament.

WFF "lures players in" by having a successful ECNL program. They were third in the SE Conference in just their second year. They placed a couple dozen u18's in college.

                        Pretty good "lure"

Exactly. Where the girls practice is irrelevant. Players will travel for the best opportunities. ECNL should attract the best players, not just the ones thAt are conveniently located closer to the practice field.

If practice location is irrelevant, then why are you making such a big deal about where OCYS practices?

It doesn't matter what is posted on here, "Some" we all know who they are without mentioning them will tear it apart and make it out to something negative. Moving the fields is not that big of a deal. Recruiting players from out of the area to make the teams stronger is what needs to be done. Looking outside is worst case scenario for "Some" again not naming any clubs because that is exactly what they have done over the last few months (you can tell by their rosters). They "Some" chose their path, I would agree some of their girls are better players however again they chose their path, so now is not the time to get upset because OC is looking elsewhere for players and not begging your players. They are not saying that any of the current ECNL players are not good enough, its all about recruiting the best talent. Say what you will OC is making the right choices for the ECNL girls who want to move to the next level.

They lured players in by having a successful program. Isn't that a circular argument? Where did they get the players to have the successful program to start with? Did they all come from WFF, or did they come from other clubs in the area, and in the surrounding areas?
