[QUOTE=Unregistered;1203191]so what's the Coalition going to do now that the field issue is over?
go back under the rocks they crawled from?
btw nice job FKK bringing in all those clubs for your own personal gripe.[/QUOTE
Are you done? OC is obsessed with FKK. Wow. FKK has the least to gain from the coalition, we thank them for working with the other EIGHT clubs. Way to marginalized us and strengthen our resolve!

Originally posted by Unregistered View PostOn the fields, here are two examples of the negative impact:
HCS - Two fields to be built. - HCS currently uses community fields which the term field equals something vaguely resembling a flat patch of land. They have requested fields for years and have always been told know. OCS getting what they want would pretty much kill this club.
SOS - three fields at Barber park to be built. Community center built over existing fields. cuts SOS fields by 2/3 and if OC gets the usage negatively impacts this club
Just two examples.
For SOS, I understand your point. How many existing fields are there at Barber Park? It sounds like you are saying there are two, and they will add three new fields, but build a community center over the existing two? If that is true, there would be a negative impact, but not 2/3. They would have a similar amount of field time available, but it would be more consolidated to two nights of the week. I'm sure that at a minimum, that would create some scheduling conflicts. At the most, they would be losing about 30% of their field access, but I understand that they are probably fully utilizing the fields now, so any decrease is a negative impact. (If there are more than two existing fields, then my assumptions aren't correct, and there would be more of an impact.)
Isn’t Barber Park the only existing location that would be impacted?
Originally posted by Unregistered View PostRegarding free programs, 1st and foremost, most if not all of these fields are not in low income areas so if you factor in drive time interest in getting from school and to a 5pm event will be slim. Free programs would have a greater impact run through the schools. They list qualifying for the schools free lunch programs as a criteria, so who better to provide this information.
But you are missing a key point – the rec leagues were intended to reach 600 of the required 2,000. Look at Section 5 – Outreach Programs, where OC proposed having outreach programs at a minimum of 10 locations, including schools and other County parks. These would include locations convenient to youth in disadvantaged neighborhoods. So they were planning to run programs through the local schools, in addition to the rec leagues.
Originally posted by Unregistered View PostAs far as coaches availability, are you saying a professional organization doesn't have the ability to higher part time staff? We're aren't talking about Class Licensed coaches but college players with an interest who pass the OCPS vetting criteria.
Originally posted by Unregistered View PostIf OC and the city for that matter really wanted to help under privileged kids, why isn't a field going into downtown Orlando (Besides the stadium)? That aside how about providing transportation to the sessions if they absolutely must be in the evenings.
Originally posted by Unregistered View PostThe entire program had more to do with adding numbers to their program so they can claim 10k kids than actually helping the kids.
OC has a history of providing tickets to the Pro games as part of their pricing. The attendance was called into question last year and PR would love nothing more than to start with 10k for a 18k stadium. The city won't know that only 7k will be full price tickets buyers.
I think more than the ticket numbers, OC was hoping to find talented players. Think about how many professional athletes come from low income areas. So I agree – OC was hoping they would also benefit from these programs. But the kids would benefit too.
Originally posted by Unregistered View PostTo end my rant OCS would be in a much better position today if they had come in as a partner as opposed to an opponent. The community is filled with young soccer families and for them to alienate them is a critical mistake. Not all will let what's happened affect them but wouldn't it better to get the majority rooting for you as opposed a fraction.

I think the other area clubs have seen how OCYS does business- first with CFK and then FCA, now with the big field grab. Even a club that doesn't want to get involved in all the BS has no choice but to defend itself from OCYS' obvious strategy.

Are we not here for for premier soccer? I am amazed at how self righteous some people are when they are defending their own self interest. Orlando city is trying to do what every other club has done for years but couldn't!!! CFK tried to monopolize soccer in central Florida but couldn't!! Rush would have loved being a super power but couldn't!! Orlando city wants to be the super power but all of a sudden all the other clubs are crying FOUL!
And aren't we trying to have the most competitive teams we can in central Florida? I am amazed at some of the stuff I read on here. If fps could have been the power house, they would have replaced all our locals with English coaches. Rush would have done the same but Spanish and CFK would have gotten rid of all the locals and replaced them with texans. Now all that is memory because how quickly we forget those things.

They accepted over $100k from OC to cover their outstanding liabilities. If they are now trying to back out of the deal on a technicality, that is not OK. I’m starting to understand why OC got lawyers involved.
As I said, I understand why the existing fields would be a concern for the other clubs. However, in your HCS example, wouldn't they have access to more fields? They would still have access to the existing fields, and also have unrestricted access to the new fields on two nights a week, after 7 on two other nights, either all or part of Friday night, and part of Saturday. I understand that is less than what they want, but isn't it more than what they currently have? I don't see how this would kill the club. Will they no longer have access to the community fields?

Isn’t Barber Park the only existing location that would be impacted?
I guess we will never find out if there would be any interest. It’s easy to make a claim that can’t be proven to be incorrect. The Pine Hills location is certainly low income. I used to live within walking distance of Barber Park, and the Semoran/Curry Ford area isn’t exactly high income. I also used to live in the Young Pine area. There was a reason that we moved away from that area. I wouldn’t call it a low income area, but it was certainly close enough to the low income areas for the drug/crime issues to impact us. And then there is the smell from the dump. That has to be one of the worst locations in Orlando for a soccer field.
But you are missing a key point – the rec leagues were intended to reach 600 of the required 2,000. Look at Section 5 – Outreach Programs, where OC proposed having outreach programs at a minimum of 10 locations, including schools and other County parks. Of course they could hire part-time staff. But do you really think there are enough college players available in Orlando to run these programs? Think about how many people it will take to run training sessions for 600 players.
I don’t know. That is a question for the politicians. I’m not sure if OC has any input into where the fields are located. Also, as I stated above, this wasn’t the only outreach program. There were also proposing to run some programs through the schools. Do you realize how expensive it would be to rent/buy vehicles? Who will drive them, the part-time college players? Do you realize how long it would take to pick up the kids and get them back home?
The reason OC gives players a season ticket is because they know the parent will have to buy a ticket to take them to the games. So they give away one ticket, and put at least two people in seats. That won’t happen if they give them to the low income players.
I think more than the ticket numbers, OC was hoping to find talented players. Think about how many professional athletes come from low income areas. So I agree – OC was hoping they would also benefit from these programs. But the kids would benefit too.
I agree, but I’m not sure that all of the blame belongs to OC.
Guess my question is do you benefit from your job? Even if you help someone do you benefit or do you ask to do you job for free? What you expect from the pro team is for them to things for free. Because their owners have money, how did they get it? Probably the way you made your money. Do you give away free tax returns or free food simply because you are nice and just think you have enough money. I wish I could go to your job and blog all day about how crappy you are and your lack of compassion and your greed. That is what happens here constantly and I agreed that the ironic thing is every club bashing OC wants to be the head dog with all the power but since they aren't, nobody should be, right

None of them as non-profit youth soccer clubs ever had the clout to do as you claim. The only reason OCYS thinks it can is because it's backed by millionaires who own a pro club and are leveraging their capital to benefit the youth club.
Your post is silly.
