OCYS got ECNL and FKK got the best female players in central florida. Both sides won and lost. OCYS girls get an opportunity to play in ECNL and maybe get noticed but not an easy task by any means when your playing against much better quality teams and players. While FKK girls train with the best girls in the area week after week but have to work harder to be seen. Not the perfect scenario for either side but it is what it is.

Yes and no. You're implication that ECNL makes it easier to "be seen" is absolutely true. But that doesn't mean playing non-ECNL makes it "harder to be seen".

for a talented, hard working athlete without ECNL, nothing has changed. They train hard, they contact colleges, they go to good tournaments and showcases, they attend camps, etc etc. same as it always was.

OK, I'm sick of seeing arguments about the $100,000. You do realize that this information is publicly available on the internet at no cost, don't you? It took me about 15 minutes to find it.

The merger was effective June 1, 2012. CFK's tax year was June 1 - May 31, so the merger was effective at the end of their tax year. CFK received over $100,000 as part of a merger with "another local club." This balance was required to zero out CFK's net asset balance - so prior to the $100,000 they had a negative net asset balance, meaning their total liabilities exceeded their total assets. CFK had no assets other than cash (no receivables) at the end of their tax years ended 5/31/09, 5/31,10, or 5/31/11. The public data doesn't show any asset or liability balances on 5/31/12 because they were absorbed in the merger, but it doesn't seem like they would have any receivables in 2012 if they didn't have them in the previous three years. Even if they did, they were less than the total liabilities.

Can we please stop arguing over this?

OCYS bought out CFK for $107,000. OCYS agreed to payoff any unsecured liabilities of CFK.

Why would a club OCYS this?

One, the future revenue stream from fees of 1700 additional players. Adding additional players improves overhead absorption. Remember, quantity has a quality all it's own.

Two, all 1700 became season ticket holders which were desperately needed at the time to show MLS that attendance was growing.

Community Outreach

The presumptiveness of OCity is shameful. They will accept $20mm in funding for a stadium, but they must contribute $3mm over 15 years for field upkeep in a new county park. Then they claim the "deserve" prime time usage of the parks field to do community outreach.

Community outreach means going out into the community and helping those less fortunate find positive paths to a better life. That implies going into the lower economic areas of our community and assisting kids make healthy and beneficial choices. Using soccer as a tool to motivate kids to do well in school and stay away from the crime and drugs that flood their communities.

You don't need prime field space and time to do that kind of outreach.

CFK never revealed any debt. The biggest argument was FSAs $700,000 debt with a manageable mortgage on the 40 acre complex and yet CFK had over 100k in debt and owned nothing. No one saw that coming.

WOW!!! really GB didn't organize anything, and the tryouts were not secret!!! The Parents were the ones who organized the tryout and CM was there with his U11 team I might add. Get you're facts straight, but why do you this is TS!.

In fact the second purple U11 team going to regional finals has nothing to do with the Danone Cup, oh wait it does if you're an U11 Second Pur Parent now doesn't it.....

They want time on the fields that OC builds to run free instruction and free leagues for disadvantaged children. They don't want prime time on all fields. Use your brain. The City of Orlando and Orange County do not even operate the majority of soccer fields. The local municipalities like Altamonte Springs, Winter Park and Winter Springs own and operate the majority of soccer fields. Orange County can't tell them what to do with their fields. No more than I can tell you to quit telling lies.

Furthermore FKKrazy, do YOU want to go into Pine Hills and teach soccer? Didn't think so. So quite the rumor mongering. OC has fields. Prime fields. They own fields, you know, the ones you left. What do you own FKK? I will tell you. You own debt. Each and every month you own more and more debt. Face up to the reality of your failing club and quit trying to pull everyone else around you down. Soccer would be so much better without the lot of you.

OC owns fields they can't use after dark. They want someone else to pay for lighted fields, and they want to monopolize the prime time for training only OCYS players. Pretty simple, pretty obvious- as long as you're not swallowing the propaganda at face value.

Outreach to the less affluent areas of our community does not require or necessitate monopolizing prime time on county fields. It requires a dedication of going into the community and sharing a love for the game. The County Commissioners have sniffed out the ploy.

just a fact check here, pretty sure none of those fields are being built in Pine Hills, and they are not being built out of kindness. It was part of the deal that got the stadium to be pushed through.

So you want us to believe that Ocity bought/merged both FSA and CFK without doing a due diligence on the financials? And, in doing so they absorbed $100k of supposedly unknown/hidden liabilities at CFK?

Didn't GB go to work at FSA/OCYS prior to the merger? Surely, he knew of the supposed $100k in debt when OCYS merged CFK into their operation?
