The last series of posts chronicle the business side of professional sports.

The irony is OCYS has a "not for profit" business tax designation. The club is being used to hide and subvert taxation. Transactions that should be tied to the revenue of the professional club are being absorbed by the youth club.

Remember, every youth member is a season ticket holder to pump up paid admissions.

The youth aren't season ticket holders any more I don't think, that was for last season. I'm sure Disney isn't like leasing the Citrus bowl, I'm not sure if the city got a portion of the gates, or just a flat fee from OC. If a flat fee they could tickets to anyone just to get people in the seats. How are ticket sales this year. I would think lower being out at Disney

That is just how pro sports work. He wasn't good enough to play MLS so off to another USL team. It will be the same way with any of the others, they have to do what they have to do to compete in 2015.

WFF has been very successful getting college scholarships for its players. They had 23 girls sign on NLI day. That is the entire ECNL team and 8 girls from the B team. The cost to play ECNL is the SAME as playing NPL. The cost this year was 1500.00 plus travel. There were 3 away trips and 2 showcase events. The three away trips were 200.00 per player (bus, food and hotel). The Sanford showcase was 150.00 plus if families wanted to go it cost more. Texas is a plane flight 239.00 plus 150.00(food, hotel, coaches expenses). Plus the playoffs. Total cost is 1500.00 plus travel (1,139.00) plus playoffs. Playing NPL the cost is 1500.00 per player plus travel (5 tournaments & State Cup) Disney is 350.00 per player (hotel, food and cost of tournament). CASL is at least the same 350.00. The other 3 tourneys plus state cup is a minimum of 800.00 and this does not include travel for NPL league which is usually one trip to Jax, one to Orlando and one to Miami. The ECNL has actually been cheaper on the wallet then NPL was. For an ECNL player, 2500-3000 per year is a very nice deal considering the likelihood of scholarship is very high. A half scholarship is anywhere from 8,000-25,000 per year depending on the school for a savings of 5,000-22,000 per year of college. What advertising is necessary>?

There is always the chance, at least a couple MLS players have come out of this area. I'm just wondering when they will get Zusi, and McCarty signed. Having local guys on the team would be great marketing.

Sorry man, but this is a ridiculous statement. The percentages of people making a living at pro sports is miniscule. Any parent should be educated enough to know that. You just don't like OYCS and you can bash them with crap like this as they have a pro team.

Disagree it would special to see to local hometown boys who played youth soccer for FCA and CFU ( CFK ) thought-out their youth playing careers. These two local boys went on to make the national teams and MLS. Great for our local youth soccer clubs. The tradition continues.

You showed how little you know when you said that the school only gets 9.9, that is the number for mens teams. Women's soccer gets 14 and yes some are broken up but it is more common in women's soccer to get a full ride. You should also check out what the cost of out of state tuition is at a school like Wake Forest or UNC, maybe then you would understand where those numbers come from. Even if it is academic money along with the athletic scholarship the soccer coach helps with that process also and I wouldn't even be able to afford it if there wasn't the athletic scholarship. Here I will supply a couple of examples.

Orlando City is NOT deserving of a 10,000 member youth club. If Orlando City was deserving clubs would be waiting in line to merge instead clubs are running the other way.

Orlando City wants control of ALL fields in Orange County once they control Orange County Parks then a move on Seminole County and Osceola. Since OC membership is not increasing rather decreasing OC turns to politics.

Orlando City is working full-time on this mission of control. Why you may ask?

Big big business. Control of kids is money in OC pocket even if soccer is cheaper OC turns to sponsorships and continues to line their corporate pockets. Is OC operating as a 501c3?

Orlando City should stick to Professional soccer and run a development academy of 60 top boys.

This model is working for most all MLS clubs. This model works with all Europeans clubs.

This mission of 10,000 to 12,000 kids is wrong.

America is about choice but what can we expect from a businessman on a mission of control and greed.

The arrogance is astonishing to watch. This man has been in our community for less time then a 3 year lease on a Honda Accord yet the local politicians are bend over with stupidity.

Can someone unravel the business plot. Seems like the same money given to OC by tax payers is being redistributed for control of fields. Is OC actually digging into their own bank account?

Sorry old club mates but we do this full-time and you don't. OC is coming and coming hard. One club in Orlando equals one really big checking account. One club means we control big sponsor's and even more money. Money Money Money.
