I see that no matter what OC does well it is torn down in favor of building other programs up. OC will be successful and is getting better. Are things perfect, not at all, but improving which is what I think scares most. If OC shows that they care about kids, that takes away one argument, so will the bad mouthing ever come to an end.

I see you have had your head in the sand, what exactly are they doing well? How are they getting better? You say they will be successful, and I don't disagree that they will have some successful teams in the club especially on the boys side. To be truly successful as a club though they will have to change some of their philosophies and attitudes. You will have to see them start to take a more active role in helping place kids into college programs. The attitude higher up at the club is that it is all about the one or two they could find to play professionally, maybe. I think you will continue to see some of the old guard from FSA get pushed out for new people, which may not be a bad thing as there are some that need to be.

OC doesn't even care about the 1 or 2. The whole youth program is only to fulfill the dream of MLS and the look at us attitude. Ask the kids that remained. This club has no idea how to run a youth club. I saw in another thread they didn't even practice the ECNL teams except once a week even though they forbid the girls from playing high school. Doesn't seem to me like they care about anyone other than Orlando City Pro team!!

I have been a OC parent, you can't convince me that they take the same interest in my kids as they did others. I have seen first hand how it works. I have seen my one kids team get a lot of attention form directors while my others get none. If your child is on the team of certain people you will get a lot of attention if not, good luck.

Understand one thing FKK parent. When you hold the State Cup over your head, then you have made a statement. When you own a few showcase trophies, then you can brag about your program. Coming out of a NC tournament with more wins than the other guy means you are just second loser.

Both clubs just need to take off the blinders and understand that real kids are losing opportunities because they won't put the best 11 on the field. For once, be an adult, patch up your differences and put the kids first.

Are you kidding... The fact is that OC will do anything to poach FKK players and to put FKK out of business; and FKK will do anything to see OC fail on the girls side. I don't agree with this, however that is the hard reality of what the directors at these clubs are committed to. This will not change anytime in the near future. To be precise FKK lost only 1 of 15 games at CASL and not a third of the games as you said. So 9 wins, 5 ties and 1 loss. Is that better for you?

There is no comparison of girls programs between OC and FKK. FKK has one of the top girls programs in the state if not the top and OC is average at best. Plain and simple, no comparison on the girls side. The opposite could be said in regards to the boys program.

I guess you didn't quite grasp the post. FKK had 9 wins, 5 draws and a single loss. OCYS a single win. As for "Showcase trophies", that particular weekend, FKK won 4 of the five groups it entered. (CASL is a true "showcase format", without playoffs). The previous weekend FKK boys won a few of its groups as well.

So, we didn't "come out of a NC tournament with more wins than the other guy"... We came out of a NC tournament with more wins than EVERYBODY.

Its the coaching

I have been a OC parent, you can't convince me that they take the same interest in my kids as they did others. I have seen first hand how it works. I have seen my one kids team get a lot of attention form directors while my others get none. If your child is on the team of certain people you will get a lot of attention if not, good luck.

It all depends on the coaching staff, it hard getting great coaches to coach youth soccer because its very little pay to take a bunch of crap from parents. Once the parents are happy with the coach--(then they are happy) not all parents can ever agree on the same good coach--half love them and half hate them. Youth soccer is hard to please everyone. way to many opinions

Former American collegiate player. Parent of soccer player who evolved from youth club soccer to collegiate soccer. Licensed youth soccer coach. Certified youth soccer referee. 10+ years experience in various capacities with youth club soccer including Board of Directors.

There are some around (but not many) who are "soccer-savvy" or "soccer-smart". There is also a persistent multitude of those who are are "soccer-stupid'.

Last year as the clubs split several big colleges made a statement that they would not support OCYS ECNL; looking at the attending list, U of F, WAKE and some other NC schools are missing. They weren't bluffing?
