This is a great thread... full of bubbling, excited Soccer Daddies all aglow with dreams of little Landyman playing Lion MLS in a shiny new stadium some day...

You guys are in for a lesson in real world. But enjoy your euphoria while it lasts.

Beats the heck out of your bitterness, negativism, pouting and sulking.

        Huh? *** are you saying?

Ever stop to think that perhaps OCYS is having college ID the same weekend as DA/ECNL because college coaches will already be coming for DA/ECNL, hence enhancing college coaches' presence for college ID for non-DA and non-ECNL players while at the same time not ask/expect college coaches to come to Seminole Soccer Complex on 2 different dates?

Honestly, some of you OCYS critics are plain stupid, looking for every rock you could possibly throw.

If OC/OCYS discovered the cure for cancer, some of you OC/OCYS critics would probably find something idiotic about which to complain and criticize them.

RAWLINS ANNOUNCES CURE FOR CANCER DISCOVERED

In a stunning follow up to his victory in convincing gullible politicians to provide public funding for his tiny soccer stadium, Orlando City Soccer President Phil Rawlins held a press conference to claim credit for recent advances in medicine that may lead to breakthroughs in cancer research.

At a hastily convened news conference at Orlando City Soccer's lavish Winter Park Headquarters, Rawlins announced that researchers at the Mayo Clinic and Johns Hopkins have isolated certain chromosome markers that may indicate the presence of amino acids signalling early warnings of cancer for at-risk groups.

Reading from prepared remarks, Rawlins noted that "many of the scientists invloved in the studies are reportedly soccer fans". He also cited reports that the lead researcher at Mayo once wore a purple tie to work- which Rawlins claims is an indication that he is specifically motivated in his research by his support of the Orlando City Lions PDL soccer team in central Florida.

"We've always believed that our organization was about much more than just soccer" Rawlins crowed. "It's obvious to me that the great work we're doing here in Orlando has had a ripple effect throughout the US, culminating in this potential breakthrough in cancer research" . He continued- "We're humbled and pleased to know our work is not just spreading the popularity of soccer in the US, but is also saving lives".

Though he took no questions from the assembled press, Rawlins concluded his announcement with his organization's plans to immedaitely apply for a Federal Medical Research Grant to pay the estimated $87 million in franchise fees needed to secure Orlando City's entry into Major League Soceer. "We think it's only right that taxpayers assist us in out Public-Private partnership, given the positive impact our organization has had in cancer research that benefits the entire nation and the world".

None of the above. Very happy where my kid plays. But my fees don't go to support fantasy. Sorry to throw cold reality on your wet dream, Dad.

As an example in the U11 boys group there are 4 good teams (Purple I, Purple II, White, and Red). The players know each other well having grown up together, played for and against each other and now compete for a spot on the next team. There is an environment where the kids feel that they can beat the team ahead. Teams scrimmage each other frequently sometimes as teams sometimes mixed. Sometimes the lower team wins or ties. Kids get a chance to be noticed and also to watch/learn from the better kids. When the top team plays 11v11 or just needs subs, lower team members are brought up. This is precisely the environment that any competitive kid should want. However, if a kid/parent does not like the ultra competitive environment and feels sad because he is not top dog at the club, then OCYS may not be the right place to be.

The YDL is not perfect but it sure is cheaper than driving to Tampa every other weekend for some good games. The YDL games have been competitive for the most part (as in any good league). The reduction in parent time and money outweigh the loss slightly better competition. The club makes up for it with tournaments and friendlies in Miami, etc.
YDL, Ha Ha!!! You keep telling yourself that. FL Rush has now taken over as the club to be at in Central FL. Very weak to not be playing in the CDL league. What is the real story behind your club not playing in a league with the best in Region C and your Region.? Would have been good preparation for the Presidents Cup.

The YDL is a joke. Plain and simple. Even GCF is better than YDL.

                            Who cares

My son plays for the top Purple U11 and yes they played U 12 Girls (which by the way were very good), but we also play U 12 FC America (which by the way beat us) but we also played Doral U11 top team in 11v11 (which by the way we beat) we also played Westpine in 7v7 turf (which by the way we lost) we also play Purple II which we almost lost to. What is your point? Winning does not count for anything at U11, what count is whether your kid can show up at a game or a tryout and show he can play any position because he understand the game and has the required skills to play fast.
