The U14s began their weekend with an opening match against the Atlanta Fire. In the first minute of play, Sarah Bissett made a piercing run that resulted in a tidy finish from close range, giving the Lions an early advantage. For the remainder of the match, OCYS controlled the tempo but struggled to take advantage of several glorious chances.Orlando's poor finishing would prove to be costly, when the Lions goalkeeper’s clearance deflected off a Fire striker and into the back of the net, ending the match in a 1-1 draw. On Sunday, the U14s struggled against a tough GSA squad, and as a result fell 4-1.

In their first match against the Atlanta Fire this season, the U15s took an early lead when Sabrina Henderson rocketed an effort into the back of the net. As the second half progressed, the Fire would equalize and the match would finish as a draw. The draw against the Atlanta based club was the first point earned by the 15s this season. On the following day, the Lions were not as fortuitous as they suffered a 4-0 defeat to Georgia Soccer Alliance.

The U16 ECNL team was on the road this past weekend, and faced two tough sides, Georgia Soccer Alliance and Atlanta Fire. Their first match of the weekend featured the Fire, who is known as an established team and defeated the young Lions 2-0 in their previous meeting.

In this outing, however, Chrissy Volontine scored early for Orlando and assisted Maya Fisher later in the match to produce a second goal for the Lions. Nevertheless, the Fire answered with three goals of their own- resulting in a 3-2 loss for City. The following day, the U16s held GSA to a scoreless first half, but would concede three goals in the second period, leading to a 3-0 defeat.

Despite both losses, the U16s have scored just as many goals in conference play as they did all of last season, with 3/4 of the campaign remaining.

The U17s had a rough day at the office as they also dropped three points in both of their games, suffering heavy defeats to the Atlanta Fire and Georgia Soccer Alliance.

The U18s, on the other hand began their weekend with a hard fought 1-0 victory over the Atlanta Fire.

Jessica Hamrick provided the lone goal for the U18s with a long range effort that flew past the goalkeeper. On Sunday, the Lions took an early lead over GSA from a Brianna Camargo goal, stemming from a great cross from Kerry Skinner. However, GSA responded with three goals and would take the win, despite Orlando’s probing efforts late in the match.

Regardless of the mixed results, all of the ECNL teams have shown great improvements so early in the season. Keep working hard girls!
The OCYS U14 ECNL were the winners 4-1 on Sunday vs. GSA.

I think we all know that with exception of the OCYS marketing department. Big egg on their face for this mistake. And of course it involves the girls and not the boys.

I'm no stalker just somebody that calls it the way it is and this was clearly a mistake by OCYS. The U14 girls need to be properly recognized as they are your best ECNL team.

Don't be too hard on the marketing folks. The fact is OCYS is receiving a lot of criticism and scrutiny because the year-over-year W/L record and 'goals against' statistic are under water. It's their job to highlight the positive, and I can't think of another way to make the point other than a comparison to last year.

As opposed to, "...as they are our best ECNL team" eh?

Based on your choice of words, one could assume you are not a part of OCYS ECNL or OCYS in general.

Hence, *** do you care how OCYS recognizes its teams?

                Sure, you're not a "stalker"...yeah, right. LMAO

I guess anybody that doesn't write what you approve of is labeled a "stalker" and this your method of attack to shout down any people you feel are dissenters. And it shouldn't matter what club I'm with if what I say is factual. What I am is a parent of a daughter that aspires to play ECNL and I live in central Florida and I want the ECNL girls to get proper acknowledgement, especially for a group of girls that many questioned and felt they oouldn't compete because of their age as more than a few of them are true U13 players. Glad to see that OCYS changed their article to accurately reflect who won the game.
