    Club action-

    1-reprimand the Director of Coaching.
2-address the issue by memo to the coaching staff re-iterating club's zero-tolerance of abusive behavior to officials.
3-address the issue by email to the membership, expressing regret of the incident, and re-affirming the club's commitment to core values and FYSA standards of conduct.
4-contact the other club/team. Apologize for the incident, offer to reschedule the match or take a forfeit.
5-contact the referee. Apologize for the incident.

The most important thing is to communicate to members the club's awareness of a serious incident and actions taken in response aligned with the organization's stated values.

But don't recall CFK doing any of it whatsoever when HM got tossed.

As the saying goes, "People who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones."
CFK doesn't exist as a club, and hasn't since the beginning of 2012. This isn't about CFK- this is about a youth soccer coach at Orlando City entering the pitch and instigating a physical confrontation that required law enforcement to be called and the match to be cancelled.

To satisfy the hysterical morons posting here (and who are not privvy to what OCYS may or may not actually be doing or planning to do), the individual associated with this incident should be burned alive at the stake at an OCYS press conference at Church Street Station. With local, statewide and national media coverage.

In the aftermath, the morons will post that the fire wasn't hot enough.

The morons think that by ranting on TS they will drive the club to appease them with public pronouncements.

      LMAO.

Why is that a "fail"? seems to me the "fail" is that the people who DO RUN OCYS are trying to sweep a major incident under the rug.

I can't understand why you- a member of the club- are so tolerant of this. Loyalty is one thing, but you guys have crossed into making excuses and throwing up smoke screens for a coach who was clearly outside the boundaries of behavior the CLUB ITSELF claims to have no tolerance for.

If you're truly loyal to your club and its mission, you should be the ones asking the questions and demanding answers.

Gee, thanks for all your counciling, but...

...since you're NOT a member of the club, why are you SO concerned about it?

My son has played for OCYS for about 8 months, and we have received at least 3 emails regarding acceptable behavior on the sidelines by parents and coaches (similar to the letter that is currently on the OCYS website.) I know the coaches received the same emails, because they were on the distribution list. So they have educated their coaches and members about what is acceptable. What else are they supposed to do?
I'm not implying that OCYS "didn't do enough to prevent the incident." Obviously, there are only limited (but definitive) steps the club can take for reasonbal prevention before something like this happens.

But there are steps to be taken AFTER the incident that also have the effect of sending an appropriate message of intolernce for a behavior, and thus have a pre-emptive effect on future occurrences. If the coach was immediately dismissed, a strong message is sent about the club's attitude about conduct. If the coach openly communicated to members about the specific incident and the consequences, it sends a very strong and (i think)positive message.

If the organization has a policy, and the policy is violated without consequences- then why have the policy?

Unfortunately, the message being sent now is "

Geez, talk about "sweeping it under the rug"...CFK "swept it under the rug" then, didn't do squat about it and is still trying to "keep the skeleton in the closet".

                    blah, blah, blah...

You have NO clue what actions OCYS has already taken or intends to take, do you?

Sooo... back to name calling. I outlined a reasonable and professional course of action in response to a question. It didn't include "burned alive..." Yet, you choose to call me a moron and try to derail a fairly civil discussion.

I assume no one knows what they may PLAN to do, but by all means, tell us what actions HAVE been taken? Has the coach been dismissed? Has the club addressed this serious incident with coaches or members? If so, why is it a big secret?

I have a general interest in the public relations business. I am also very interested in how youth soccer clubs are managed and the wide variances in the business models and approaches.

And who are you exactly? And you are or are not a member of this club? And you have forwarded your recommended "reasonable and professional course of action" directly to the club?

Or maybe you just like to anonymously post and rant on a forum because you enjoy re-reading your own drivel.
