Sounds to me that the coach lost control due to a bad/marginal call and then yelled/approached the ref. The ref then physically assualted the coach (all witnesses that have posted state the coach was the only one bleeding).

Coaches yell at refs all the time, even the most mildest of coaches. However, that never excuses a headbutt.

HOWEVER, the bottom line here is that unless you were there then you do not know what happened as even those that were there have conflicting accounts. So why are we still talking about it? Because the usual OC haters will never let this go, not out of concerns for the laws of the game nor about the kids but due to their petty obsession with OC.

      Everyone sees through you.
^^^ The Big Broom... sweeps it away as if having the police show up and the rest of a match canceled happens all the time. I guess this is all just 'acceptable behavior' at an Orlando City Youth Socce match.

Yes, we "cannot be confronted". Seems like that's the safest thing for people who disagree. Obviously if you were able to "confront" us, the police would need to be called after the assault.

You're up trolling pretty early this morning! Does your boss know you secretly are spending his time trolling about youth soccer instead of concentrating on your job?

Pretty easy- it's Public Relations 101:

Incident- A coach entering the pitch to confront a referee after he's been sent off, resulting in a physical confrontation that requires the police and cancellation of the match.

              Club action-

              1-dismiss the coach.
2-address the issue by memo to the coaching staff re-iterating club's zero-tolerance of abusive behavior to officials.
3-address the issue be email to the membership, expressing regret at the incident, the separation of the coach from the club, and re-affirming the club's commitment to core values and FYSA standards of conduct.
4-contact the other club/team. Apologize for the incident, offer to reschedule the match or take a forfeit.
5-contact the referee. Apologize for the incident (without explicitly acknowledging details)

The most important thing is to communicate to members the club's awareness of a serious incident and actions taken in response aligned with the organization's stated values.

Ignoring it won't work. Sweeping it under won't work. This has been this club's biggest problem since day 1.

My "boss" knows a lot more about what I'm doing than the OC membership knows about violent actions by its coaches toward referees.

Maybe if Orlando City YSC is concerned about people pushing an agenda, they should do everything possible to avoid incidents like coaches choking referees and having the cops show up.

Actually, this behavior is not unique to one club...it can (and does) happen anywhere. Sad but true.

i'm glad you think the reply is helpful- it was intended to be. My personal identity is irrelevant. I don't run OCYS, nor did I run out on the pitch to choke a referee. By asking for my identity (which you yourself do not provide), you are hoping to de-legitimize my comment, and change the subject.

The advice I posted is straightforward and should be a no-brainer for "Florida's Largest Professionally Run Youth Soccer Club". The fact that they choose instead to hunker down and hope things blow over speaks volumes about the organization's professionalism and attitude to its own stated goal and values.

You are implying that OCYS didn't do enough to prevent the incident. What else should they have done? What club are you with, and what is your club doing to prevent something similar from happening? It is easy to criticize after the fact, especially when you are criticizing anonymously. My son has played for OCYS for about 8 months, and we have received at least 3 emails regarding acceptable behavior on the sidelines by parents and coaches (similar to the letter that is currently on the OCYS website.) I know the coaches received the same emails, because they were on the distribution list. So they have educated their coaches and members about what is acceptable. What else are they supposed to do?
