If the ref was a minor then this is not only a horrible day for youth soccer but a sad one as well. If what is said is true then that coach should be arrested, ban from youth soccer for life and that club would be required to have all of their coaches take a course on anger management since at least one got in under the radar.

Shameful
U15 boys. Rockledge parent - I helped break it up, physically.
First this is the second time we played this team and I give great respect to the parents and players of the OYCS. Contrary to what some people write on this board my experience is they are good kids and good parents. What I saw today was a disgrace
The ref was extremely calm and did a great job. He at one point gave a talk to a OYSC player, instead of a card. He also verbally counseled one of our players and a OYSC player at the same time in a later incident. There were very few calls missed, perhaps a couple of possible offsides cause the AR was a young girl that didn't run the line. The coach in question is a screamer, and berates his own players mostly. I only heard him disrespectful to his own players.
Due to injuries Rockledge played 10 boys no subs. Score was tied 1-1 and this happen with about 20 mins in the game. I think the coach in question was frustrated and emotional. I think the issue started on a play where all the OYSC team including the backs were pushed way forward. IIRC it was a corner. We came up the ball and our Right wing was behind all the OYSC backs about 15-20 yards on HIS OWN HALF. He made a run and my son passed a ball into space. The OYSC coaches and parents started screaming bloody murder because he was clearly several yards forward of the last defender save the goaly. Not he was very nearly the half line when the ball was played to him. Is it possible he was offsides (crossed the midline) maybe, maybe not. But as the ref saw apparently, it was on his own half so no offsides by laws of the game. Rockledge did not score but the ref went ape scheisse.
The ref calmly walked over to talk and the coach came charging at the ref yelling. The Ref pulled out his card and was booking the coach in accordance with the rules of competition of the league. Referee was smaller than several of the players by the way and weighed 50-100 lbs less than the coach. Anyway, ref backed off turn away and the coach grabbed the ref by the necked and tried to twist his head. Two other OYCS coaches ran out, and I didn't know if to join or stop. I wasn't waiting around. I wasn't gonna let this creep kill this guy. Fortunately the other coaches were trying to get the death grip off the coach, as I was about to punch right in the nose. He was carrying on about his head bleeding, and sure enough he had a pretty good goose egg and a little blood. Unless I missed something, poetic justice was done to see crying over his little injury.
I didn't see any aggression by the much smaller calm ref. Perhaps the ref managed to get a lick in over his shoulder ??
4 Police came and when I game my statement it became apparent the guys story was that the ref headbutted him. BS! Anyway the ref remained soft spoken and 20 minutes later the fool started yelling and being restrained by his coaches parents saying he was gonna file charges and suit the ref, screaming he wanted his coaches card back. One of the cops said, he is going nuts again. I can't believe the cops didn't arrest the guy. All the stupid arrest cops make and this is one to me was cut and dry.
Anywhooo, the game was suspended. I think it should be a forfeit "shrug". I have never seen anything like it in my life. I will be very interested in how the league administers discipline to this maladjusted coach.
To the other team, no disrespect intended but this was absolutely pathetic. You also need to read the FIFA laws of the game before you start a riot. Peace and out

Getting the police involved and witnesses was a good, first step.
Every year younger referees opt out, i.e., do not return. These kind of stories just support their decisions. I heard there is a certain Clearwater coach whose actions are also being called into question.
