I'm all for MLS and I'm a diehard soccer fan, but attendance is going to be a major concern.

Were Brazilians flying to Italy to watch Kaka play at AC Milan when he was at his peak? Some of you are delusional at best. The majority of Brazilians by the way could care less about Kaka anymore. They have moved on to Neymar, Hulk, Oscar, Thiago Silva, Luiz, Marcelo, Dani Alves, etc.

You aren't going to plan a trip around a game but you might squeeze a game in on your trip.

Based on some comments people actually believe tourists are going to fly here just to watch an MLS soccer game. Really?

But I agree, tourists are not your bread and butter.

But they are asking for money from the tourist tax that can only be used on certian things and personally I think the convention center is big enough and we don't ened to be sending a ton of people to Dubai for tourism.
I think we follow the vegas model tax the toursit to make life better for the residents. add 1% bed tax and that money goes to schools. Increase the sales tax in those areas 1% and that goes to road improvements.
It makes no sense why orange county is 6.5% but the surronding counties are 7% and I believe they have growth rates.

NEXT!
Are there NFL franchises in Miami, Tampa and Jacksonville? Yes.
Are there MLB franchises in Miami and St. Petersburg? Yes.
No reason why there couldn't be more than 1 MLS franchise in Florida.

Of course there can be more than 1 MLS franchise in Florida. Some unknowledgeable poster said people from Miami will drive up to Orlando to watch an MLS game. Nobody from Miami is coming to Orlando to watch MLS when Miami has their own MLS team. Why sould somebody drive 4 hours up to Orlando when a team is in your own backyard?

Imagine that: "Hey Honey- instead of Epcot and Animal Kingdom, let's fly outh there and see an MLS game"... What?! Are you nuts?
As for central south america- you must be looney. And even if there's a market for MLS in South America (lol), once Beckham opens shop in Miami with a franchise the Rio-Orlando traffic will fall off the table.
If you're a supporter, fine. But stop making crap up to justify your MLS fantasy.
