Maybe so, but I'm gonna keep askin', even if i can't get a straight answer from the Directorship. Of course as you point out, a big drop means another series of "adjustments" to the operating budget.

I'm betting they dropped 500+ members, and now down to 1300 or so. What do you think?

OCYS did a horrible job of communicating last year at all levels. They were great about getting the message out to the public but often fell short on making their members feel like they were anything more than a revenue stream.
The ECNL - level teams were gutted. A lot of the Purple teams were gutted, too. My kid's team lost 60%.

No one knows what their numbers are including the directors. I'm not sure why you think someone here would know. Heck, the players aren't even registered in the system until after July 1st. This doesn't even take into account that the recreational kids aren't involved yet.

If history is any indication the office people of OCYS (formally FSA) they are taking some down time before processing the numbers. It's been almost a month with 3 tournaments and two weeks of tryouts and no days off.

If the numbers were small as say... FKK maybe ...then you could figure that out pretty quickly.

From why I saw and hear I'd say the girls program is down about 1/3 but the boys were not really impacted. In some cases boys are stronger. Considering the boys well outnumber the girls it's probably a 20% hit.

I think the number will be 1200 or possably even lower as I know many kids that tried out at OCYS but committed to other local clubs, boys and girls. So if only 1325 registered for tryouts I can't for the life if me think they were able to get 1300 to sign with OCYS. On the girls side there is literally no depth as if you didn't make top team the girls went some place else. That will certainly cause problems going forward as there will be injuries and some girls will decide to quit as they get older. On the rec side we saw huge drop of kids from Fall to Spring so if history repeats itself rec numbers will be lower in the Fall.

            "3 tournaments"? What?

Best kept secret in Florida. Maybe you're counting the Memorial Day embarrassment as three.

I agree with this post for the most part, and was going to post the same thing. There is no way to know for sure what any club has until August. The 1800 number that people were commenting about on here includes the rec players and those numbers won't be known for a while. I am not sure about your numbers on either side, I know of a girls age and a boys age that are both down by a team each. That is about $20,000 right there. When you say that the boys are stronger this season, are you thinking from a numbers standpoint or the quality. I am sure that they gained players from FCA for the DA, but I also know that a number of boys left and not just from bottom teams, but also the purple and white teams. People can say they weren't the top players, and in some cases that is true, but if it is just numbers I would think they are down also. If FKK has gotten just one team for the boys in each age group, the majority came from OC, and that is a significant amount of money. I guess we will see later how many teams in each age, plus we will see what happens with the rec programs at each.

'as small as FKK"... Typical OCYS arrogance- even in the face of shrinking membership (read revenues) in year two. You guys still haven't learned that a little humility would improve your lot.

As a startup, FKK went from zero to maybe as much as 4-500. even the most optimistic Purple Lion fans like you estimate a 20% loss of membership. Any business faced with year-on-year customer erosion like that would be in a panic, rather than dissing their competition that just ate a chuink of market share.

you're probably correct. I know a lot of unhappy-but-undecided OCYS players are still looking at alternatives. It could be significanlty more by the July1 and July 15 deadlines.

That's normal even without the psycho parents around here. People jump on the next big thing and then jump off the next. That's why everyone was bailing on CFK fir OC. Without knowing anything I bet FKk goes down next year unless they find a merger.

I like how everyone keeps saying they are still leaving OC. I was in their office on Monday and three, yes three girls, were looking for a team after they had already signed with FKK. Is it coincidence that the one time in months I'm in three that this happens? I bet its not!

                        Ignorant.

OC incompetence felt most by the girls and ECNL teams in particular. They TEAMS moved to FKK so you really are a rocket scientist when you say it didn't affect joys as much.

You lost 20%? You lost 80% of the talent and the mediocre players that came over to fill the ECNL void did nothing to improve talent level.

I saw the number of girls at your tryouts and you should feel embarrassed in terms of quality AND quantity. By the way, coaches are pathetic as well.

I guess if you have 2000 girls it means you are great even if 1900 have two left feet. Good luck. You and your FSA buddies are pathetic and should send a letter to FKK than link them for doing your work for you on the girls side.

In business they say it is always better to go into a bad situation because as a manager you can only improve it. When you take over a management role in something that has been running like butter you can only screw it up. You all have screwed it up.

Here is the business, OC will be a better club this year. The boys side is much higher quality than last year and the shocking thing to me in my sons age group was watching a boy make a decision on opportunity over going with a coach. That is new to me after living here for a long time. The girls side will need work but I think it will be getting more positive attention than last year as well.

Really, DC CUP, that's odd I was a part of OC and I never heard anything about DC cup at Seminole. So I looked it up, the GCF website shows that DC Cup was cancelled for 2013 because of lack of interest from enough teams. So when exactly was it held at Seminole then?
