By your amazement of the concession prices it's obvious you don't get out much so we will excuse your ignorance. Prices have been outrageous for years at the higher levels of all sports.
Look friend- There's NO WAY that was 8000 people. They may have sold/given away that many tickets- but attendance is attendance. That wasn't 8000. and yes, considering that the entirety of the upper deck was unoccupied, and no where near 1/4 of the lower was seated, less than 8000 is accurate.

And if you call a handful of soggy fries and a cheap hotdog for $12 at what amounts to a minor league soccer game 'normal', then you might be satisfied with getting screwed by every greedy dirtbag frycook in Orlando. Not me, thanks.

Then stay your ass home and support sitting on it. I don't care how many actually attended. It was a fun time, and our OC Lions won the game easily. If you don't like it, take your broke ass home! End of story!

Guess what? I enjoyed it alot. Which is what I said in my first post before some idiot (maybe you) attacked me for telling the truth.

OC is a good thing for Orlando- but they won't reach their goals by lying about attendance that is obviously lower than they claim. And they won't improve public pereception if the Citrus Bowl vendors are allowed to charge 1000% markup on food at a minor league soccer match.

and they certainly won't be successful if their "supporters" tell others to "stay your ass home". I'm sure OC would love to know "loyal fans" like you have that attitude. although I'm sure that's what you tell all the patrons at the fast food joint where you work.

Keep in mind that the attendance is determined based on tickets printed/sold not just what comes through the gate. Consider that they have about 6000 in season tickets based on what I've read and a lot of those are families. Since last night was a Sunday night and they night before FCAT testing started I think the showing was respectable.

I agree with you on the price of the food and drink, and also with the other poster on how fun tailgating is. We've decided that we'll be able to buy a Jersey for each of us with what we would have spent on food and drink for our family of four per game.

Firstly, I'm no idiot, nor am I the one who "attacked" you.

Secondly, some of the most loyal supporters of the OC Lions are the ones yelling "You suck A*shole" every time the opposing goalkeeper takes his kick. EVERY TIME!!! And that's with families around them. I guess drunken, fun-loving, non-looking like they work at fast food joints (don't think I dont' know what you meant either -- I'd have more respect for you if you just stated it instead of implied it) people can spew profanity and it doesn't bother you. But God-forbid, someone uses ass on TS and my feelings got hurt.

Lastly, if you assume that someone who uses profanity when responding to someone else works at a fast food joint, you likely have a "biased" or warped sense of who would use such a phrase. Me telling you to "stay your ass home" (and yes it was me) has nothing to do with my loyalty as an OC fan. It has more to do with the fact that if you don't like it (marked up prices and all) then stay your ass home or take it somewhere else. And feel free to stop by your favorite fast food joint on your way, since I work there, I can tell you in person!

the food and prices are not controlled by OC at all it all handled by the city. The city sets the price for all items. The cost is the same no matter what event you go to.

don't expect any improvements to the citrus bowl either. The mayor of Orange county said if improvements are to be done it will have to be done privately and it won't be funded by the county.

                    Here's several answers.

I took no offense at your use of the word "ass". I have no idea where you got the impression. I couldn't care less. But the idea that I (or any other customer) have no right to report what I saw or write my opinion - and if I dare do it I should "go elsewhere"- is what led me to believe you are probably of the same type that handed me a $12 hotdog and basically told me "too bad" when I asked for one that was actually hot.

I also never claimed OC controlled concession prices. But since they're one of the last events that even dares book the citrus bowl on a regular basis, you can bet your last $12 they have influence. Trust me- ANYTHING that negatively influences a fan experience can be influenced by OC.

Finally- no, I'm not on crack. If you were there, you may have noticed that fans spread well beyond the 16" alotted per seat. If you took all those and made them actually occupy the seats/sections as intended, you would agree- NO MORE than 4-5k.

Think about it: If there had ACTUALLY been 8000 fans there, they would have claimed 12,000!!

Typical local government response. We want you to pay for improvements so that we can get more money by renting to others. And they get offended when you ask for some concessions in exchange for laying out the funds to make it happen.

The problem may be that the improvements needed to make the Citrus Bowl a viable venue would be too costly for an investment to see decent returns. It's good enough for Monster trucks, but didn't the summer rock festival lose money last year?

the place is a what it is a 75 year old stadium. Dumping 120 million into it for improved boxes does the city no good.
Its used for 2 bowl games a rival game (bcc and a&M and monster trucks outside of that its vacant.

You want MLS build your own 15-20k seat stadium with funds, hold concerts there instead of tinker field or the fairgrounds.

I am a sports fan but do not want my tax dollars going to the citrus bowl in any form or fashion, I am all for a new arena and an arts center because they get used but the citrus bowl no thanks.

Damn, how did we go to CFK mergher with FSA to dogging out the Citrus Bowl? Anyone who has lived here more than a minute knows that the stadium is a turd with a new coat of paint. Still a rotten old piece of junk. I would not give 1 cent towards improvements.

Yet, I hear all these people grumping about the Citrus Bowl and not saying one bad thing aboout the Amway Arena. Folks, in case you have been at the fields the past 3-years, our illustrious Mayor Buddy "Moon Pie" Dyer and along with the County spent $400 million in tourism tax on corporate welfare for the Orlando Magic. Yep. That old broken down 20-year old arena was just falling apart at the seams. We had to replace it with a glittering new "events center" where every single thing is themed and sold by the Orlando Magic. And they got this by agreeing to build some gyms in poor communities.

So if you want to grouse about the Citrus Bowl, consider this. If Uncle Phil decides to build a a glittering new stadium for our home team, will you object to them using tax dollars to build it? What if he agrees to build soccer clubhouses all over Orange County?

Riiiiggght. It would never happen. Yet it did for an organization that has yet to keep a marquee player, yet to win a championship and yet to return 1/10 to the community that supports it with their taxes and patronage.

I think it is great we have soccer in Orlando. I could care less if it is MLS or any other organization. We have a place to watch game and our kids can have heros that play their sport. That will do until we get to the next phase of development.

I think Orlando needs to realize that without OC the CFk- FSA merger would have never happened because no one trust hue. Yet here we are and he is still involved. I can't wait until my kids are out of soccer and I hope never to look back at this mess. I can tell you why the smaller clubs of the world will stay afloat because people don't want to put up with the crap! Fca has their issue and maitland is reasonably priced with lack of coaching. I could say a lot but complaining about the citrus bowl is the least of your problems.

Like it or not your not speaking for everyone with your comment about no one trusting HM. You may not for whatever reasons and you may have some who are like minded, that happens regardless and at every club across the country. IMO your speaking from a position of fear. Your afraid of what might be, what could happen and instead of waiting to see what this is going to look like your grasping at straws. There are still choices for you so best of luck.
