I would have to say Moses Brown and North Smithfield are the biggest surprises so far.
Pilgrim is by far the best...no question...ns is a bit of a surprise as well as ep even though it is really one dominant kid...mb is not a surprise as they are finally playing respectably after underachieving for years, and they will be horrible after this class leaves despite being able to recruit talent

No surprise on Pilgrim - should have been moved up to D1..MB, and NS were middle of the pack so like with the drop by Wheeler and EWG (slight drop) it can be highly variable with a single class or the add of a couple of good players. EP was low in the standings last year so not sure if that's a recovery or new players.
Karma is coming back on Johnston for the year of sandbagging..
EP is real deal. Quality team all around.
MB is talented all around but still struggle at times.
EWG not that impressive but decent overall record.
NS, not really sure how they have such a good record. 1-2 really good players. Thats it.

Pilgrim is Pilgrim
MB is a bunch of choke artists in big games
NS has more depth than uninformed poster suggests
Pilgrim head and shoulders above
EP will lose to Pilgrim in finals

MB tied EP (EP ranked 2nd?) Lost to NS by 1 point (ranked 3rd?) How are they "choke artists" in big games?
Agree re: Pilgrim, but they were last year as well and lost in finals. But this year they are dominating for sure.

Has North Smithfield made the semi's the last 2 years? No, last 2 years they perform well in the regular season and then bow out early in the playoffs.
Thats a choke artist.
What "big games" are you talking about? Like the previous poster just mentioned.

NS has some talent as does EP.
If MB does not make the finals with a heavy senior laden group of talent, they are nothing more than choke artists….considering they still reside in D2, anything short of the finals is pathetic

Why wouldn't MB they reside in D2? Not a large school and certainly their record over the past 10 years doesn't speak to not belonging in Division 2? Pilgrim into Div 1 (or back into) perhaps?

Sounds like North Smithfield who can't make it out of the Quarters every year, if that.

The fact that they don't have a good overall record in D2 is pathetic and the very point...how dumb do you have to be to argue they are not a "large school"? when you selectively attract/recruit students it should not require a large student body...Pilgrim belonging in D1 due to size does not excuse the pathetic performance of MB

Um, not? What makes you think MB "recruit's"? The class size is not large compared to larger public schools and financial aid is given based on academics. If MB recruited players they'd be at the top of Div 1 in all sports, would they not? MB and other independent's do attract and pull students from all over RI (and also southern MA) but that does not equate to recruitment?
Kids go to MB for different reasons and sports is simply not the main reason for many students.
Why do continue to feel the need to call a team of HS players pathetic on a HS chat board

Agree on the name calling.
RIIL - To maintain the educational standards and dignity of our academic and athletic program, all members of the RIIL must refrain from any practices such as recruitment, enticements, and inducements or other pressure which would encourage students substantially for athletic purposes
From MB hand book - "• Financial aid is available for all qualified student/athletes. Contact the Financial Aid Office." (for athletic team trips)
Just saying..my kid's teams don't take "team trips"..and if they did, pretty sure the school ain't paying part of it or promising to potentially pay for some of it..
and besides football (which MB was good and is still competitive given how hard football is for smaller schools) - MB is pretty competitive in many sports, especially for its size.

I have had 2 kids at MB (1 graduated) both play multiple various sports and have never experienced a "team trip."
