oh yay LSA won. again. yay so happy. yay ... blah
Sports are activities, you should be more interested in the education at the school they are attending.
Also, No titles and enrollment will decline. So.. they are here to stay. Get used to it and find a way to win. Once again, they are part of, always have been a part of, and always will be a part of RIIL. If you want a championship fork over the money in the sport you need a title in. If not, get used to it. Hopefully your child is a great student and is attending a good public school. This has been going on for a long long time. Until then, support your child, his/her friends, and your/their team. Everyone can't be a winner. Or you can come to LaSalle $$$

Oh please.

And no public schools don't have the same quality players..occasionally a town has a phenom who actually stays in the town's school and some towns with decent feeder programs keep enough of the talent to be semi-competitive..but only the privates have the ability to attract and enroll from all those towns.
I don't think anyone is saying it's due to cheating (although without disclosing the aid statistics then we're left up to the honesty of the school administrators) - it's you really think it's an even playing field, especially in the larger team sports? They had to create a pseudo D1 "superbowl" for the publics since every years it's BH vs LS.
the only equalizer in soccer is PKs and the short OT period..LSA has been in the finals every year except one (?) in the last what, 15 years - you really think that's a coincidence given the same quality players exist across the division? Put GK aside (niche position) - every player on LS would start on every other team no exception; only a few on those teams might start/play for LS.

Take her off the field and there is a very good change LSA is not the state champion? Explain to me where the "fork over the money in the sport you need a title in if not get used to it"? Players are developed in most sports prior to coming to HS. Community youth organizations then usually to club. You either have the individual resources to attend LSA or the school is offering financial assistance. Private schools have the option of accepting students, especially good athletes, they have the option of offering $ to players who will have an impact on the program. This is RECRUITING. Public schools do not have the benefit of picking students from other towns, understand, probably not, its not an even playing field but that's how you like it.

If so they’d go to Feehan or another Mass private school. What’s the challenge in destroying public schools knowing you have huge advantages over them.

Originally posted by Unregistered View PostMaybe a little bit of recruiting. However, I have heard parents of children, as young as 10/11 advise they will be sending one or all of the children to the privates. I don't think there is as much recruiting as you are crying about. They train in MA but live in RI. That is an option. Doesn't mean they have to play HS in MA bonehead!

Shootouts are the most horrible way to end an even game, and that is across any possible competition that i can think of!!!!

Do what field hockey does; pull for soccer two players and play 9 v 9 - still not ideal.

Originally posted by Unregistered View PostRespectfully, I disagree. I have come to love PK's. Been fortunate enough to watch my children play in a few big games these last 10 years between Club & High School and you always seem to remember the matches the ended in PK's. There is a paralyzing cloud that sets over the field, teams and spectators as it unfolds. I sort of agree that it isn't soccer, but it is still about a keeper trying to keep the ball out of the net and a striker trying to put one in. Two years ago Ports v. Lasalle went to PK's and it was dramatic and I was a neutral observer, I didn't have any daughters on the field but I was texting people I knew as it played out.

I can understand both sides of it, but i think they flat-out suck. You can have bench players that can come in and be the deciding factor, even though they couldn't contribute in a real game situation. While it is good in the sense that it can take a relatively unknown and give them a chance to show your team's "depth", it is a step away from pretending NASCAR drivers are real athletes.
Much rather settle it short sided.
