For D1 it was 14 points. No clue for D2-D3.

It’s a secret. Best keep away from parents.

Approx. how many girls currently in RI high schools o not play high school soccer because of either collegiate or ECNL, etc. commitments? I know of one at LaSalle, but was wondering how prevalent this is.

Not sure what you’re asking. No idea what you mean by collegiate. ECNL girls can play high school. It’s DA girls that aren’t allowed. Any of the girls who play for Nefc Breakers DA cannot play high school soccer unless they have obtained a waiver from Nefc Breakers to do so. But I think waivers are granted only to prep school girls.

Thanks for the clarification. I thought some colleges may not allow commits to play. I guess I mean DA girls. Roughly how many do not play high school? Does this usually apply to upperclassmen, or does it start freshman year?

Just to get a gauge, how many "top level" kids, regardless of year, are not participating in high school currently?

There are about 4 DA HS kids currently in RI without waivers. JK from Portsmouth got a waiver so she played HS this fall. There are more RI 8th graders currently playing DA that if they choose to stay DA will likely not play HS next year. I’m hearing rumors that a few of those current DA HS aged players who are already committed to college, may drop out of DA and play HS again next fall. We’ll just have to see.

If that is the case I won’t be surprise if the college coaches redraw their offers. HS Soccer could actually hurt their development more than help. Plus coaches wanted to see their recruits compete with like quality on a regular base to sharpen their skills.

Not all DA players are committing to D1 soccer schools. Some are choosing academics over soccer. And even still, if a player cannot developmentally survive 8 weeks of HS soccer each year, they have bigger issues, and probably shouldn't be D1 calibur anyway. That is nothing more than USSF/DA marketing garbage.

                            That would never happen.

                              Don't Forget About SK

SK didn't even make this poll. But they're the dark horse in the playoffs. They may just take it all this year. I don't see LaSalle as big a threat as the last 2 years.

And so much for the poster who wrote "I see Portsmouth repeating a state championship."

Quite honestly I watched the second half of the Mt Hope/Lincoln game and #16 and #2 (central defenders) are extremely solid. I think there only issue is the many missed opportunities on goal. I think there two central defenders really hold the back line together, giving them a run in the playoffs this year. Could potentially see them in the championship. Thoughts?
